It's a Bilstein adjustable suspension kit: http://www.bilstein.com/mistore/prod...pany_id=100484 |
|
PSS9s
in answer to your question - PSS9s are a suspension system by Bilstein. they are adjustable (unlike the HDs) and a popular upgrade to the very poor monroe stock system. recently Bilstein updated the system to PSS10s so... the 9s are obsolete.
conduct a search and you will find an huge amount of detail about various suspension systems and their installation. It is a major improvement in handling. |

It has a small injury sustained in a fight but looks, runs, drives like new. Original miles based on history, it was someones cherished possesion and they got in a accident and I just cant part it out that would be horrible. So im getting it all fixed up and it will be my baby. http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...15303_1_I1.jpg http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...15303_4_I1.jpg http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...15303_5_I1.jpg http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...15303_7_I1.jpg http://i386.photobucket.com/albums/o...15303_6_I1.jpg |

944/951guy,
It always hurts to see a P-car after an accident, but I hope you get it all fixed up soon! Now I see why you're considering a widebody conversion....... I say go for it while you get the body work done. And don't forget the basket handle delete, front turbo bumper, Carrera S split grille, etc...... Good luck! |

I got phosphorus bronze valves from Steve Veiner, piston rings and gaskets from Pelican parts. I am just a bit concerned about the valve stem - valve guide fitting as I understand from Steve that it is a painstaking process if it is to be done correctly... |

944/951S Guy: The exhaust is the Fabspeed Supercups. I run it with the stock cat where sound is an issue and with the Dach X-pipe where sound is not an issue.
Dave: Thanks. I have never had an issue with the tinting in club racing. It gets really hot in California during the summers in a black car, and the tinting helps keep it somewhat cooler. I don't have any interior pics at the moment. It isn't too exciting, though...black with a cage, just your typical office. Harry |
This thread reminded me of the time I was in San Francisco and saw a sign on the marque for the Radisson Hotel that stated "Black Porsche Club" meeting there. I thought, wow! You have to have a BLACK Porsche to be a member of that exclusive club!

gear Knob/shifer.
Hi: Scott 1996 993c2 - is that the 993 RS gear knob, you got on yr car!
This is kinda complicated! "fussy query~ : is the color of the alloy on the RS shifter (gear knob) as bright white Aluminium look, as the Brake Handle. Looking at old catalog from Porsche factory - they do look same bright Alloy - know what I mean - white crisp Aluminium (both white aluminium) - yet on couple of cars I notice the (gear knob) to be slightly grayish white in color - therefore not a good match with the "Bright white" of the Alum Brake Handle. Nice car, BTW. Cheers. |

Here is a link: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p93083.htm The fit and finish is soooo nice, I couldn't say enough. We did the same upgrade to my wife's Riviera Blue cab too as soon as we bought it. HUGE difference from the stock pieces. Carnewal also has the RS shifter knob, here: http://www.carnewal-europe.com/cpx_p93004.htm Scott :burnout: |

Unfortunately the 430 is gone But fortunately it's replacement was a GT3 |
Thanks alot Scott for the calrification. Also for letting me know, that that RS shifter is actually not an Alloy, but Carnewal says: Plastic! How disappointing :(
Wonder what are the best looking "black leather/alloy" shifters for 993 (Turbo unit in particular). Good day ahead! |

FINALLY starting to look like spring around here so I got to take the little black car out for a bit of exercise. The black 3.2 is a friend's 86 Euro model that lived most of it's life in Japan. It has 100000KM, 17" Fuchs replicas, a 74 RS 3.0 tail, and the deepest ORIGINAL black paint I've seen on a car of this age & mileage.

Thanks! When I got the 97 a year ago the first thing I did was swap the factory Hollow Spoke/Technology/Twist wheels for a set of MY02s I have. I remember being just plain tired of the twists a few years ago due to Porsche putting them on just about anything they could. Funny thing is they look pretty darn good on a simple NB 993, any 993 for that matter, so I put a new set of tires on them and put them back on the car. They just look "right" on these cars. |

The car had a fresh respray/windshield at the time. Notice the rockguards are still off. The shop did an amazing job rejuvenating her at 96k miles. |
Still not ready but she is black! :)

OK, Mr J. Graham, nice car but My name is J Graham and i drive a black 993 also, guess you will have to change your name or get a different color.
|
If I change my name- I'll have to change my plate (that's not happening).
And there's no way I'm driving red, blue or yellow. How about we call a truce- you can be the only J. Graham in America and I'll be the only one in Canada. Cheers |
That works for me, fairways and greens !

The rims on CD's beauty are Victor Zehn rims. They were at the top of my list (based on CD's fantastic photos) as replacements for the white wheels on my GPW 993. That was until I discovered they are cast and quite heavy. The 18" rears are only made in a 9.5" width and I want 10 or 10.5"
|
CorrdoBrit, your car needs the Speedline RS wheels to match those seats. No question

A black car should have black license plates (especially where front license plates are mandatory and you're tired of getting ticketed)...

..Concerning the black color: How many types of black color exist? .. Mine is metalic black. (if i..But over the sun, is like dark grey- brown metalic). BTW people ask me if there's a special color..! Any inputs? tks.
|
Mine is flat black. I don't know the colorcode by heart but I can find out..
|
L741 is the standard non-metallic black. The metallic black for 993s does have a brownish tone to it in some light, not sure of the code. I find it very attractive.
|
 L744 is Black Metallic, which is the code under my luggage compartment hood and in maintenance book. But the code under the mat on the left hand side of luggage compartment is Z8 which is the code I give for resprays. L746 is also Black Metallic. My Porsche "Acryl Lackstift" (touch-up paint) is 746. The different "Blacks", as well as other paint colors through the years, can be accounted for here: http://www.911c1.de/porsche/Technik/...de_schwarz.htm

MA -
Since I track my car I've had the front bumper and hood re-sprayed. What I highly reccommend for protection is the 3M film installed by the 3M guys (they are the best). After I did my bumper and hood re-spray, I did my whole hood and bumper in 3M film and I can't even tell its on the hood. If you only do 1/2 the hood, you can see the line of plastic across the front. The bumper, due to all the curves, you can see some of the small plastic lines, but you have to look really hard. If your a councourse kinda guy, you might consider not doing the bumper - however that is really the portion that needs it most since it gets a majority of the fine particle sand blasting as you drive. |
My 1997 993 C4S, recently purchased. Gambella side skirts and GT2 wing. Full black leather interior with red piping in the seats. Full carbon fiber interior. Highly upgraded suspension. RS motor and transmission mounts, RS strut brace, Wevo engine brace, monoballs, etc. Its a blast to drive!
|
Silver Surfer you're C4S is my favorite color combo, the stance is perfect along with the best wing imo for our cars. I just can't seem to find one FS, probably won't unless someone sells one for a good price even with damage, I wouldn't mind since I would do the body and paint work myself but, for now I'll be rockin' my RS spoiler.
I would love to see a few pics of your CF interior too, I need some ideas to help give my interior some more style. I have yet to install my GR painted 996TT seats but, was able to source a set of red seatbelts in the meantime. Tomorrow the coupe is getting corner balanced. With the PSS10's and RS swaybars shes sitting at approximately the same ride height as your C4S. Enjoy, these two week old pics represent the factory 993 ride height but, I couldnt be happier with the Blistein/RS setup so far. The car is so planted, literally on rails I love it! http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...729_203625.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...5055_edit0.jpg http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e4...729_195337.jpg sidenote: i've since fixed the curb rash, fully repolished the lips with my mini buffer and repainted the spokes a different color:cool: coming soon to this thread stay tuned. |

For black, I have found nothing better to give a DEEP BLACK, nice clean shine than the Klasse "all in one" cleaner/protectant.. I usually follow this up with a nice carnuba paste wax.

I love my 96 black 993 but agree it's really tough to keep clean. I've been using Meguiar's Gold Class car wash and Meguiar's Gold Class Carnuba wax. I think I'll give Klasse "all in one" a try based upon the positive experiences by you and Kika. I see there's also a "High Gloss Sealant Glaze" which can follow the "all in one" application. The other day my neighbor across the street told me to stop rubbing my car... it's starting to get weird. |

This is my first P-car. I bought it early December and drove it to Buffalo from Long Island in the pouring rain. This pictures are from the previous owner and look pretty good. The car is a driver and looks great 10 feet away. The car has yet to drip a drop of oil but does need some attention to the suspension components. The PO did the clutch, plugs, rotor, valve cover gaskets, new radio and speakers and SAI cleanout about one year ago.
One thing that bugs me is the front and back wheels are different and i cannot get the twist to go in the same direction even if i switch one set. Love the car. i have been taking it out on dry days to "keep the battery charged". Will spring ever get here!! |

As far as your wheel issue, it appears that the front and back wheels are two different designs. Two of those rims are a replacement to the originals, hence they do not match. Just my observation. |

I am still getting to know my 95 C2. I have had the car for 12 months this week and have put the last 2,500 miles on the 65,800 mile odo. I love it. I just picked up a set of MY02 wheels and will be refreshing the suspension with Koni FSD dampers + MO33 springs next week. Not a unique or extreme choice of mods, but I am looking forward to making them!

Summary of a black 4s this fall
Brought the camera on my last drives this fall. All natural lighting gives a nice reflection in the paint, especially on the city shots. Only editing is licenseplate delete on some photos.
I love all the different colors the 993 offer, but I think black stands out as the most classic and timeless color (followed closely by silver). https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...1e8428b24.jpeg https://cimg9.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...952edbf95.jpeg https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...722a0f4e4.jpeg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/rennlis...5c12d1226.jpeg |
