They are pretty quick for a big car - Audi also advances the throttle tip-in to really make all their cars jump off the line. A sweet V-8 doesn't hurt either...

Not 100% sure it was an A8 but it appeared to be the largest sized sedan they make. Isn't the S8 a little smaller in size?
The other car got a bit of a jump on me and my only thought was I wanted to give it a quick blast so I didn't get stuck behind some big slow sedan being driven by a woman.
I was surprised when I floored it and the Audi was going just as quick if not quicker along side. I yielded even though I had right of way with the Audi on my right. I think her hubby/boyfriend sitting in the passenger seat told her to keep her foot in it.
Very quick cars.

The S8 is only sold in the short wheelbase version. The A8 is available in short or extended versions. There is a W12 version of the long wheelbase that is very fast, but all of the A8's are pretty quick. They will have at least 80 bhp more than a stock 993 and a bunch more torque. .

Sorry, but ...oh puhleaase!
I certainly hope you are only kidding about that bruised ego of yours. There are plenty of cars today that can outsprint our 993s, which are getting pretty darned oooold! Get used to it. Personally, I couldn't give a rip about any car that's faster ...that's not why I own and cherish it. Obvious point but I'll say it anyway: ya want a faster car, that's easy to come by. You want a "better" car, you "may" be able to find that ...perhaps in another 993

The power curve and gearing make the 993 about the worst car around for stoplight grand prix. I got blown into the weeds recently by some spoiler wrapped version of a Jeep Grand Cherokee, for god's sake. Half the cars sold these days have a version that can do 0-60 in under 6 seconds.
For that stuff I miss my old STI--a car where you could reproduce or beat the "car magazine" numbers all day long without any stress to the driveline or the driver.

Nah, I'm really not bothered by it at all. I know there's a ton of faster cars out there. Just was surprised. I honestly didn't realize that some of the large Audis could achieve those kind of acceleration numbers is all.

Take a look at an Alpina 7 series BMW. Friend of mine bought one and it is wicked. Big 4 door sedan with 4 adults and still out accelerates most sports cars and will cruise at 170+.

Then there's the Mercedes big AMG sedans which also blow our cars away off the line, on the highway, pretty much anywhere.
I got behind a new, black A8 today and it out accelerated me at a light in my 7 series so much so that it kind of shocked me. Those new A8's rock.
I still prefer my little, dinky, 993
