It looks as if superbrightleds.com has updated the gauge bulbs and include warm white now. I'm not sure about the bases.

thoughts?

Can someone post a link for warm white LEDs that are a straight replacement.

Superbrightleds that do the straight replacement most have used here only have a Cool White.

Hey, I am sorry if this is beating a dead horse but, I ordered the 74-WWHP3 bulbs. See,https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...edge-base/228/. Therefore, I ran into the same problem as everyone before me did, in regards to the missing #74 base. Has anyone found a place where the #74 twist lock base can be ordered that is more reliable than cheap chinese crap that would fit the 74-WWHP3 bulb? Id.

It seems funny to me that there are no updates to this thread concerning the #74 twist lock base. It would be very helpful if anyone had any leads to where I could purchase the base with or without the bulb, so long as it could be modified to fit the 74-WWHP3 bulb. Id.

Thanks

Does anyone have thoughts on these?

Maybe remove the supplied LED and replace with the warm white? (as mentioned above)

Well if anyone was looking for brighter gauges but did not want Blue gauges (Bright White) look no further...

I ordered the 74-WWHP3 bulbs from: https://www.superbrightleds.com/more...edge-base/228/

and I purchased B8.5D 509T Twistlock Bulb/LED holder from: http://www.crazyleds.co.uk/509T-twist-lock-holder..html

These bulbs work as a direct replacement for the stock bulbs. This requires NO MODIFICATION of the gauges or the bulb holders. The LED is just inserted into the bulb holder (some force is required).

On my car the dimmer works, but it doesn't. This picture is at the MAX brightness setting and this works perfect for me. These LED's dim just fine if you like the dash to be dark sometimes.

This picture shows the LED's on the RIGHT; and the dim stock bulbs on the LEFT.

I only ran into one problem, and that was when I was replacing the lights in the Fuel/Oil Level Gauge. The bulb holder kept getting hung up and while trying to do this in the dark with a flashlight; I broke the little wing off bulb holder. Well its a good thing I ordered extras!

I have not done the tachometer yet, but that makes for a good point for comparison.

I hope this helps anyone who is looking into replacing their gauge bulbs for a brighter white (Warm White). All in all, I would recommend buying a couple extra bulb holders, just in case you like to break **** too.

nice write up.
Great way to restore the fading guage lights in a 993. Gives the dash new life.
Same for the heater controls.

Default LED gauge bulbs

Thanks at long last. This may have been answered previously but could you specify the number of bulbs/holders to do the entire dash and center console lights and confirm that they are all the same?

I seem to remember there were about 13, but I bought 15 and I think I ruined one bending the little metal tabs up (which you have to do to make them a snug fit). That's just for the illumination, and they are all the same. If you want to do the warning lights as well (not sure why you would), I have no clue.

You're right, when including the heater control there are 13 bulbs that need to be replaced (11 for the illumination of the gauges an 2 for the heater control). I too ordered 15 (bulb holders) just to be on the safe side.
