Default tray install (rear of emergency brake)

all,

sold the armrest now i have to figure out how the new tray i ordered screws into the 2 nounting holes i see at the base of the opening.

when removing the armrest i can see there are 2 holes at the base of the opening which the new tray will mount to....doesn't seem like these are threaded nor do the mounting screws seem long enough to mount the tray?

i am awaiting the tray and screws in the mail but wanted to get a heads up

william

The tray is attached w/ 2 screws into the holes you referenced. Typical body trim self tapping screws as I recall.

There should be those little clip things that slide over the holes. Sounds like yours are missing. What are those things called???

Here it is - speed nuts.

I think, I just moved the clips around when I installed mine.

You should already have 1 or 2 of these clips on the car. You just need to relocate one of them, (if I remember correctly). Either that, or they should come with the new tray. I got my new one from sunset, to get rid of the outdated cassette tray.

BTW: One screw is enough to hold the new tray in place in the front.

I took some pics back when I did the install. Enjoy:

before or after (I honestly don't remember!):

Where does that rectangular piece of rubber go that shows above under the screwdriver? I found one just like that after I had some audio work done and now I can't figure out where it should go.

That was for the old cassette tray. It goes inside the tray.

Would love to see the finished product when you get it done.

Ah, no wonder I couldn't find where it went after I had the cassette tray removed!

Thanks,

I made a tray for mine. Popped out the little cassette holders and added a bottom in there. PLastic covered with female velcro.
