It is unclear whether it started life as a Comfort or (rarer) Sport version. $650 seems high.

Seems strange to me that with only 2000 miles on the car that someone would perform all those mods and "upgrade" the stereo. Why? Add that montrous amp to the trunk? A pristine 959?
I must be out of touch.

Wow! Who mods a 959? I noticed the amp is an Audison amp, but still, who mods a 959?

I can't afford it, but even if I could, I think 959s are butt ugly... Does that make me a bad person?

For that price I'd get a Carrera GT and a 997 Turbo.

For those who know the 959 better - what are the Chronoswiss-looking gauges where a passenger airbag would be located? Is this part of his "mods"?

Mods. This car confuses me. It obviously started life as a comfort model and has been been turned into something similar in looks to the "US" sport model. Heavy stereo, leather padded cage, leather sport seats with cutouts for harnesses. The car has to weigh at least 3600lbs! I just don't get it, but then again nor did I or could I afford to do so.

Not a very good DD car IMHO.
Thought if I have the money, I would buy one unmolested...

From what I have seen in previous post many 959 owners have had Canepa modify their 959's. Their engine and drive train mod's kind of make sense but than again it is a very rare car and is very interesting in its stock configuration.

No, I don't think that it does, but you should appreciate the 959 for what it was.
The car was a bold statement in technology and styling by Porsche. Much of
the technology and some of the car's styling elements would be refined and
used on the 964 and the 993. What was learned from the 959 ushered in huge
jumps in development.

Also, the 959 Rally version and it's road racing sister, the 961, were two
badass competition cars!
