Mike, definetly sporadic. It is like a snapping, arcing sound. Hard to describe but it is like tic... tic,tic......tic..tic....tic..tic....tic,tic,tic..etc. It is louder under the right rear of the car than from above. It is not rhythmic as I would expect with a bad valve, given your understanding of my mechanical skills impairment. I listened to it with my head under the car during the daylight so I didn't notice any arcing if it was present.
