It may be the angle of the picture, but it looks like the rear wheels are the wrong offset. They look more like they are widebody wheel offsets as the tires are sticking out of the fenders.

Nice car but IMHO that is very very top $$$ ($46K) for the car and the very first thing you are going to realize is $2k just to get rid of the SUV look .

Cabrio993, you're right, the wheels do seem a bit wide. I'm not worried about the wheels since I have 993 RS Speedlines on order that are of the correct width. What does worry me is if they really are too wide, what mindset was the owner in when he did it? Thanks for pointing that out. I'll ask my locator to ask the owner. I hope it's just the pic!

Hey BTW, I paid for my membership to Rennlist, and still haven't heard from them. Do you get an e-mail or just the stuff in the mail? I noticed that I don't have that red "Rennlist Member" tag under my user name like the rest of you all.

To answer a couple of Q's:
The dye Porsche uses on the leather, particularly the black interiors, is well-known for wearing. The leather can be soft and in perfect shape but the finish looks worn and cracked. The wear you are seeing is likely just in the dye, not in the leather itself. My cashmere seats looked like new again when I had them redyed and it only cost a few hundred.
As far as the top, there is a metal bar that is supposed to fall backward when the top is put down to make sure it folds correctly; it's (poorly) secured by some elastic straps that are known to break. When that happens, the top will not fold right and there are big pins on each side which wind up having the fabric bunched on top of them instead of clearing them. This will eventually wear a small hole in the top on each side, just about even with back of the door. Once that happens, you have to replace the fabric.
That 98 looks like a nice car; you'll want to have it lowered, of course, but pretty much any 993 you buy with the stock suspension will need new shocks anyway at this point.

For $46K you should expect to get a under 25K mile car, in excellent shape all around, all records, one owner, no accidents, 10+ paint, pristine interior, etc, etc. and even then, it would still be in the high end of the price range.

$46K!!! I'll sell you my '97 cab w/ 72k miles, put whatever wheels/tires you want and put a new top on it for $36k! Oh, and it already has the M030/Bilstein suspension setup! Jeez! What has that guy been smoking?

Also, by any chance, was your car parked in the Necco street garage about 3-4 weeks ago or so. There was a red/cashmere cab parked there that was absolutely perfect.

Ugh! I knew this search wasn't going to be easy! Anyway, what premium can I expect to pay for the last year of the air-cooled 911, if any?
VJD, there is a twin of your car at Holt with 19k miles, and I'm going to call them today. Would you be opposed to another Guards red/Cashmere cabriolet in Boston? j/k

I do not think that there is real "premium" for it being a 98, unless, as others have said, it is super low miles, 1 owner etc.
Someone is trying to sell you a bill of goods. As far as a GR color, I kind of like, but then again, I may be slightly biased.

I personally don't care if a car is a 97 or a 98 but some do seek out 98s specifically. To what extent that translates into a dollar premium, I don't know.

Okay, Holt's car is a '96 with 19k miles on it and he's asking for $51k negotiable...It's close to me, and I could drive it home, which would save me $1500 on shipping...So it should cost me the same as the silver car if I can get the price down a bit and factor in not shipping...but of course, that's if the car is as good as they say it is.

When I look at your car and the one on Holt's website, it really grows on me. I was trying to get a matching navy/tan car to my two VWs, but maybe it's time for something new. I still have to decide if I want to pay a premium for a car from Holt, but seems like it is in such good condition...
