I certainly hear the Vram behind me but I don't feel that turbo kick that people speak about. Should I expect that kick in the pants felling when the Varioram kicks in at 5K+?

Expecting a "turbo kick" implies you've driven a turbo recently. Drive a non-vram for a while and your expectations will adjust accordingly.

I haven't driven a 993 turbo if that's what you’re asking. Although I do have a 600whp TT Z; but that's a whole different story and car. Big turbos = big lag.
I'm gauging if there is supposed to be a noticeable power surge when the Varioram engages?

I think there is a post somewhere about the varioram that pertains to it not working,( sounds) In my uneducated understanding I believe that at higher rpm it opens up and the torque curve is more pronounced, but not like feeling a boost, just a steady power pull, low rpm has some better torque too IIRC.
