997 5 spoke wheels vs. original hollow twists

I love the look of 997 5 spokes on dark color cars, but wasn't sure about on a yellow one. I think I like it. Here is a before and after. I used 7mm spacers on the front. Rears bolt right up.

I like the look but now I need to powder coat the calipers. Yellow or Red? What do you think?

I'm with you, brother! Put the same wheels on my Polar Silver '96 coupe...love 'em!

I like the yellow cars (Ferraris and 911 derivatives much more so than Boxsters), and I would vote for red calipers...

Now modify your signature to reflect your new wheels!

Looks great. I'd do the calipers in yellow or silver.

Are you selling the hollows? If so, please let me know.

Lots of take offs available cheap. My wheel shop offered me a set, like new, for $1k. Pretty light, look great!

I personally like the twist more, but they both look great on your car. If you decide to part with your twist, pls let me know. I might take it. Hopefully it is no curb rashand in an excellent condition! =)

Red calipers would lend a McDonald's effect to your car. +1 on the silver idea.

Stock looks better.. IMHO

I am partial towards the twists. To me, they're more "fluid" and "dynamic".

BTW...it's hard to go wrong on such a beautiful car. It's all personal taste.

Thanks for the input. I do like the twists too, they look like they belong. Cabrio, xcusemi, I'm going to keep the twists, I just wanted something with a little different look. I will probably enjoy the new look for a while and swap them if I get bored. I'll have to search for a speed yellow car with different colored rotors before I decide on a color. I think if I use yellow, it should be the same shade as the car. That may be tough to do. I'll experiment on something else first.

Dissenting opinion here: I like the twists, but definitely prefer the 5-spokers. MY02 is nicer IMHO, but the 997 one are great-looking wheels that "fit" our cars very nicely :D

I believe that twists are the period correct wheel for a yellow 993. :) Here are mine in action on a Pastel Yellow 993. Notice the factory option Speed Yellow calipers. A $1750 option according to the sticker. Also notice the Speed Yellow seat belts. Another pricey option. Yellow rocks!

Fred,

Can you please let me know the part no for your 997 rims? Also, where did you get the spacers from. I assume that your car is a NA body. So the set up should work with a CAB as well?

Thanks Jack

As for the brake calipers, I personally like the RED caliper on the Yello car. Pls see the below picture...I know it is not Porsche, but just to give u some idea of how the red caliper looks with Yellow color exterior.

Jack (Tropheus), the part numbers are 997.362.140.01 and 997.362.136.00. I can't remember which part # is front or rear. 10" w/58 BS on rear , 8" w/ 57 BS on front. Tires are 235x40x18 front, 265x40x18 rear. They are new car takeoffs from a 2008 997 brand new. Still have the little boobies in the tread.
The tires on the twists were 225 on front and 285 on rear, I think the rears were 35's instead of 40's. The front spacers are H&R 7mm that I bougnt from a fellow Rennlister in case I ever found a set of 997 wheels. I love it when a plan comes together. Right now, I'm using the original lugs, but will replace them with longer when I figure out the right length. Can anyone tell me if the length you used with these wheels and spacers? I can't find the length of the stock ones anywhere. I currently have 7 threads in the nuts, I read somewhere here that it is OK, but I want to add 7mm to them to be safe.
