I know the Varioram started in 96. 95 has ODB1 vs OBD2. 95 has different 3rd brake light.

I drove about 8 hours last weekend to drive one. I liked it. I know there are mods I want to do very soon, based on what I drove. Exhaust and suspension.

The biggest thing is I am scared to death about the valve guide issue. What is it, an $8k repair? There is nothing that could go wrong with my car (968) and cost me that much.

Get a C2, its a more "pure" experience without the AWD.

+1 Yes, it snows here but No, I don't need to in it. Why risk having an out of control AWD SUV slide into you.

I've heard more around $4,000 for the repair if a shop does it and you elect to do nothing else "while you're in there"...which at that mileage shouldn't be necessary. The rest of the parts in that engine are good for 200K plus! A broken timing belt on your 968 should be about the same cost. 70-90K miles is the sweet spot for mileage in my opinion...enough to be driven regularly and have problems fixed, but not too many so that it's worn out looking and feeling.

My 944 ended up costing about twice as much as my 911 in yearly repairs and maintenance, if that's any help. 968s are more reliable than the 944s though.

Just found out I can get a poewertrain warranty on this one. That may seal the deal. I can get a 96 C2 or 95 C4 for about the same price with about the same mileage. I am leaning toward the C4 due to much better records and lotsa new equipment (clutch, alternator, etc.).

Disconnect the torque tube.............problem solved now you have a C2 (with a little extra weight). Call Bob Brooks, get the C2 conversion kit, shed the weight.........all done !
