Steve, when it's in the air for the tires, just spin a rear wheel and watch the fronts, they should turn slowly. Then you're fine. It's hard to tell otherwise.
Glad it's working out.

I would imagine it would be very hard to tell that a VC was fine by just looking at it. I was concerned with this problem when I was shopping for my C4 and made the wrench who did my PPI spin the rear wheel to make sure I was in fact buying a C4.

Steve,
That's great news!
I presume you've been to Radial before. If not, they're top notch. I'm always amazed how they jockey cars around in that cramped shop without damage.

Thanks again for the support, guys. Yes, he did spin the wheels and said there's no problem. And yes, Andreas, I've been going to Radial for about 20 some years. They are the only ones I trust and with Paul and Sam there, I wouldn't go anywhere else.

That's great news. After all the anxiety of the past 48 hours, I would consider being $100 out of pocket a cheap escape!

Glad it worked out for you... what a nightmare! Columbia Pike... not my favorite strip... I got harassed one night near the Arlington Cinema and Draft House. I won't go to Columbia Pike alone at night anymore.

I'm relieved to hear that your car is ok. I would freak out if I had to tow my car intentionally ("watch that strap, the ramp isn't low enough, etc.). Hopefully, they pay extra attention when they tow a car like they did for you since they know that there is potential liability if they mess something up.
On the other hand, they could, and often do, take the "well, you shouldn't have parked there" attitude.
Glad it worked out.

Steve, it was good to meet you yesterday and I am glad Rich gave your car a clean bill of health. Next time you go to Arlington, let me know and I can let you know of some good places to park.(i live on south barton).

Steve, I wouldn't be so quick to believe this tech. He needs to do the PROPER test to determine if it's ok. It's in the shop manual pg 39-205 to 206. It requires a dyno.
It's possible that this quickie inspection tells you something, but I'd ask somebody who would know, like Viperbob or somebody well experienced with 993/996 viscous couplings.
