Default The king of engine undertray

You guys think the 993 engine undertray is bad, look at this HUGE tray from the Ferrari.

Took me 30 minutes just to get the tray off, another hour to get it back on. Worst part is part of the tray surrounds the rear engine jacking spot, so it takes some lifting up, lowering to get the tray off and on. A major workout just to get the damn engine tray off....

I dropped a bolt in the engine bay, couldn't find it from top.... so....

Better put that back on before a small child comes along and gets lost in those tunnels.

Why do their engineers do things like that?

This journey into discovery of the Italian mistress is just beginning. Should we start a pool on how long Robin keeps the Ferrari.

Been there done it, you know the rest of the story.

Most P-car guys I know didn't last a year

It looks very aerodynamic, I wonder if you could fly it like a kite?

How many fasteners does it take to hold it into place?

For most people a Ferrari is not DIY. They are orgasmic to drive. Drive an F360 or better still an F430 and you will see. I still love my C2S but it is not in the same league as my F430.

I say - tray on!! You'll need that added downforce when you're running 190 mph thru Chino Hills.....

Right now it is two years for me, as that's the required time you need to own a Ferrari before your name is on their list for a new model at MSRP price.

I have not tinkered with the f-car too much, already put 700 miles on it since. But so far I have found various defective items with it already.

(1). Oil overfilled from dealer
(2). Roll over protection valve on the gas tank is leaking
(3). One of the breather hose is cracked from a bracket rubbing on it. There is a huge gash on it from years of rubbing against a bracket which was not installed correctly from the factory. The breather hose is located after the air flow meter, so the engine was running lean the whole time. $100 for the replacemet tube!
(4). A/C compressor leaking oil
(5). Trash in the paint (original factory paint)
(6). Half of the rear engine hatch underside was not painted... They must have forgot.

There were about 50 fastners that holds the engine tray in place. Like I said the stupid thing is that part of the tray surrounds the rear jacking point. Looks like this car was designed to be lifted using a platform host.

I finally found the missing bolt, which landed on part of the honeycomb frame assembly. No wonder I couldn't find it anywhere.

You are correct a 430 pulled up next to me at the gas station a few weeks ago, was speechless. One of the most beautiful cars I've ever seen!

Robin, care to share what made you go after a Ferrari and not say a GT3? And, what are your thoughts so far?
