Default RMS repair cost?

I may have a rear main seal going out. Wont know for sure until I get it up on the rack, but I have a leak coming from that general area.

My mechanic takes good care of me, just wondering what I might be looking at for replacement. Cars a TIP so no waiting for the clutch job.

It is an 8 hour job + $20.00 for the seal.

I would say $800-$1100 if you do an oil change at the same time.

I had a mechanic tell me that its a $20 part but you pay for the labor. He said that its best to wait for a clutch to go out and address it at that time. Mine has a leak - a few drops after a drive then nothing - for 3 years now. The only problem is that when the car is jacked up at extreme angle - I cant remember, but I think when the front is jacked up real high, you will get clutch disk contamination that takes 20 miles to go away. I do have slipping very rarely under high performance driving, but it hasnt been a big enough problem for me to fix it right away.

Sorry, just read that you have a TIP. Good news is that you dont have to worry about clutch contamination. so its just going to be an annoying leak. I would wait to address it when you are ready to address other engine issues - leaky timing chain covers, plug wires, you get the point....

Sure it's not the oil pressure sender?

Not sure. The leak is located somewhere above the sway bar. The location of where the tranny and the engine meet. My mechanics first thought was RMS. As this is a somewhat common occurrence. From the responses so far I gather it's not that "Urgent". I'm going to have him look at this issue specifically soon for a pin point analysis.

Stay tuned and Thank you.

Funny you say "A few drops after a drive then nothing". That's pretty much it. I just don't like the fact that obsession is leaking oil.

+2. I think I'm down to one drop bouncing off the sway bar after a drive. Looking forward to a Brad Penn "miracle" come oil change time.
