Default DPS Motorsport Chip

I just received a DPS Motorsport catalog in the mail yesterday with a shift **** that I just ordered from them. After glancing through it I noticed that they offer a plug in chip (282-304hp) and a srface mount chip(282-298hp) for the Varioram cars. I was wondering if anyone has had any experience with these chips? I was looking to do something like this in the past but was unsuccessful in finding any chip upgrades for the Varioram cars.

This plug in chip is for a 1996 993 as well or does it suggest certain years?

A 22hp jump would be most astonishing.

I just called the guys at DPS and they told me that the chip is applicable to both the C2 and C4. He also said that someone that used to work a Porsche is the one making the chips but, could not find out what the company name is.

Seriously why would a 22bhp jump be astonishing??...it is only a question of advancing the timing across the rev range......I don't know these chips and am sure they are great,,,but I would much sooner have a custom remap, so that I and the re-mapper could ensure that safe tolerances were used across the rev range

What are they asking for it and do you have some specs like octane requirements?

AFAIK, no one has been able to prove that a simple chip will yield 20+ hp. If anyone can show consistent and empirical dyno tests that show this increase through a chip, I'd be willing to refrain from being astonished.

Things may be slightly different here in the UK, I currently have 99 octane in my car which is readily available and if I am feeling rich 102 unleaded from BP is available....I guess these octanes and ROW Ecu makes a difference.

They are asking $830.95 not sure of octane requirements. I live in Denver the best pump gas we get is 91 because of the altitude. other wise we have 105 race gas at $8.00 per gallon

Default Chips?

I suggest a performance chip from Rennsport. Besides being a Rennlist member, the guy knows his business. I purchased one recently and am quite happy with it. It is more than $300.00 less than the one you are looking for. Send Steve an email. Nice guy...
