I'm going to make a offer on the 993! If they accept, it will be mine!

I only have $25k to spend, nothing more. I JUST purchased the C4S back in November, & it has a big car payment, so I can't swing another right now. I was not looking for a new car, or to sell the S4, things just happened!

Yes, the S4 was a great DD, however, it was also a maintaince hog. It had a lot of stupid parts fail. Part are also more money then the C4S!

Here are a couple of pics of the S4...
It was a 9.5 out of 10.

I bought a 07 GTI for a daily driver and I have it for one year and I must say the Porsche seems clunky everytime I get in in after driving the GTI. I just love the GTI. It is so practical and hauls *** with not one problem rattle or issue.

Damn. I'd would have been pretty upset loosing such a beautiful S4. As far as driving a 993
everyday, if it suits your needs from a practicallity standpoint, why not?

I had a Stage+2 S4 as daily driver and miss it in some ways ( the launch at 2.5k!) , but if you don't need four seats and the better trunk, the 993 (or 964) is more fun to drive around at or near street speed levels.

The S4 was fun in a straight line ABOVE street speed limits and that only leads to tickets and/or trouble (like when you get the "pig" to a high speed corner- and that was with coilovers and crushed).

Have been using my 993 as a daily for the past 2 years. Thinking life is too short to spend time in a beater but I've gone both ways on that thinking. Car has been very reliable - only oil changes - and is comfortable in So. Cal traffic and summer heat....

Yes, in a straight line, the car is just EVIL! Torque any where & any time! It was heavy, but once you got the suspension set, it would corner, just not fast like the 911. Mine had coil overs & some aggressive suspension settings.

I don't really need a back seat or trunk, we still have the EVO for that. I would love a nice 964, but I can't find any in my area, that are not C4's or Cabrio's.

Stealth, as you know I'm selling both my 993s. I bought one to set up for track and the other as a DD. I love driving a 993 every day but it can be inconvenient if you don't have a third DD (GF has a Volvo V40).

Among the reasons I'm selling both 993s is the fact that I recently moved and my drive to work now is all but 2mi. I live 5 minutes from everything so 90% of my driving is short distances and I'm concerned about driving an aircooled that doesn't get properly warmed up on a regular basis.

I don't know what your needs are but the point of my post is simply to encourage you to think about it from all angles before you pull the trigger.

BTW, I'm replacing both my cars with a practical Audi B7 A4 S-line.

Had a 01 S4 as a daily driver. Loved it. Still in the Audi family as DD with 05 A6. Like it lots. Would stick with Audi for DD.

What is Audi putting the water these days?!

I've owned a 1999 A4, 2000 A6 Avant and 2000 TT Quattro. All of which sucked so much I would never buy another Audi. I also had plenty of friends in the local Audi club with a wide varity of cars but mostly 2.7T S4s.

I'm pretty familiar/experienced with Audi but given their lack of power, handling(insane understeer), current pricing, horrible reliability and awful resale values I wouldn't touch one. The only reason I would is if I could not live without AWD on my daily driver.

The B5 S4 had/has its fans- me being one. Its a classic body shape (for a sedan anyway), easy to mod, goes like stink and has IMO one the best luxury interiors.

If the turbos did not meltdown (big ticket repair), the car was reliable and fun to drive. Can't imagine tracking one though. HEAVY.

Jenner, Audi went through a bad period around the turn of the decade. You bought at a time when these cars had poor build and reliability. They are very reliable now, as they were before, especially when compared to BMWs and MBs. BMW and MB seem to be very concerned with building market share and profits with shinny trinkets and whistles like BMWs i-drive that do nothing for "drivers" whereas Audi seems to be putting more emphasis on engineering. Personally, I'm impressed with the 2.0T FSI engine...with a $600 chip, the car makes 250HP and 300 ft-lbs and gets ~30 MPG. Fun grocery getter.

Is either one going for $20K? That is the offer I put in on this one. They just called me back saying some one else is coming to drive it, & will pay more, and we talked & out the door payment of $25,500.

I think I just lost it do to a couple of thousand. Oh, well, actually, I'm totally pissed! But what can you do? I'm not going to pay more do to other interest.

^ +1 had the 01 S4 for 5 years as I mentioned earlier and drove it 82k miles with no issues (bad oxy sensor and regular oil/pads/tires/filters) car was chipped at 10k with Borla cat back and no turbo issues (need to let them warm up and cool down ). Sad parting with it, but found an S8 with low miles to make up for it. Living in the midwest most of my family drives Audi's (MY 01 and up) and we haven't had major issues besides coils on the A6's!!
