What an incredible car, 420 (I believe) NA HP. The car was easy to handle and very forgiving for all that HP. Acceleration, let's not go there...the really big plus for me was the RPMs available. On my 993 I'd be deciding, do I shift to 3rd, then back to 2nd...on the GT3, the higher allowable RPMs made this a moot point.
The exhaust sound, intoxicating....this is the best of the best...well maybe a 997 GT3 RS....

The 997 GT3, oh gawd!!!
This car does everything you want and it is nimble compared to a 993 TT car. I have driven two (2) of these beasts in the past. I think a 993 TT driver would be very interested in a GT3 if they had the opportunity to drive one.
If the 996 GT3 is anything like the 997, a few less HP I have heard, and as we know they are selling in the $70's...this would be a real attractive option.
Another bonus for us long in the trunk types, the bottom seat pads are mounted with velcro. Need a little extra head room for you helmet at the track, just remove them for the day, nice!
And Mooty, you rascal, I almost envy you...But I will continue to be true to "Baby". She ran faster than ever this past weekend now that I have my suspension sorted out...and after a reading of Speed Secrets. The book was so good I have ordered the complete set, about 6 books I believe.

I haven't driven in a GT3 before, but I did get a chance to experience the GT3 RS at TWS a couple of weeks back and man what a beast! If your GT3 is anything close to that, you have an amazing machine. In the right hands, that car can do wonders. there was a GT3 cup car on the track at the same time and the RS hung on more than I though it should have. I got back on the track with my C4s and I felt very slow Must have more power and grip!!! I know that the GT3 & RS both have nearly 10 years of additional technology and Porsche know how under their belts, but is it really that much different from the 993tt?? Anybody have any first hand experience with the two side by side? Cause, I would still like to live in my 993 is nirvana bubble wouldn't you?

I have driven both...
With all apologies to our 993 TT friends, the 993TT seems like a luxobarge compared to the GT3. The 993 and 996 TT cars are high speed autobahn cruisers. Very, very comfortable, leather sport seats, and super fast as well...but they do weigh some 3,300 Lbs...the GT3 is more raw in the sound department and with all the spoilers, vents etc. has that Boy Racer look (I like that look).
Don't get me wrong, I love the 993 and 996 TT cars...they are just not quite as raw as the GT3, nor quite as nimble...I love to have either one...but I can't say that too loud, "Baby" might be listening.
In closing, I still love my 993. Not as powerful, nor as modern as the above two cars mentioned, but it is paid for, and it has served me well over the years. We have been together for 8 years and 53,000 miles. I paid about $60K for the car, had 17,000 miles on it when I bought her, now it is worth somewhere in the $30's, not too bad for an 11 year old car.

I suppose you're right Martin. Meanwhile, I am going to remain in denial continue to enjoy my car until a day comes when I'll be getting a GT3 or RS ($ and availability not withstanding of course).

I haven't personally driven a 996 GT2 but out at the track the GT3 RS was consistently putting up much faster runs that the 996 GT2. That could always be driver limited of course...
