Default the nerves of some ebayers

check out this guys comment on shipping for a steering wheel:

SHIPPING IS $309.00 SO DON'T BOTHER ASKING ABOUT THAT. IF YOU WANT THE STEERING WHEEL THEN BID IF NOT THEN DON'T

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Porsc...spagenameZWDVW

Why would anyone pay this guy $1?

He's trying to scam ebay out of their commission, plain and simple. I just reported the MF.

Agreed. It's a trick to avoid posting a reserve price. What a dishonest and
cheesy move.

That's the 'around the world in 30 days' shipping quote! He probably does not take Paypal either!

It costs about the same to ship this complete BMW engine that he also has for sale. Maybe he's got some Flat rate special from UPS?

I hate this. This is borderline abusive. Like ebay will do anything about it.

993C4Smontreal, I agree with the others that the seller is trying to avoid or minimize his ebay fees by inflating his shipping charges and effectively reducing his selling price. However this can work to your advantage if you are shipping to Canada as you will only pay Tax, Duty, brokerage fees on the selling price and not the shipping cost. Keep an eye on the bidding, I bet he has very few takers

On second thought ( I'm a bit slow this morning), his shipping rate is higher than most 3 spoke wheels final bidding price. So there doesn't seem to be a silver lining in this auction.

At the bottom of the Ebay listing, it's possible to file a report. I did this and they do let you report excessive shipping fee as violation.

Tell him that you will PICK UP (for free - of course). He's in Florida - I'm sure there's a Rennlist member that would go get it for you

If you scan through a few pages of those feedbacks there are many neutrals as well. A neutral is almost
as bad as a negative.
