Condensation
Hi Ladies n Gents
A happy new year to you all.
One of the few problems I have with my car, (96 VR), is a condensation build up inside the car causing huge misting of all the windows.
Always happens after heavy rainfall or washing.
The sunroof seals are gone but all the rest are in good condition and there is no Direct water ingress.
The car is nor garaged although if I cleaned it out it could be, but it would be nice to sort this out either way.
Any suggestions??
Thanks guys

Not sure what you mean no direct water ingress, as water is definately coming in somewhere. It might be settling in your carpets and making the interior humid enough to fog up the windows. I'd also be worried about water finding its way into places where it could sit and rot the metal over time. So... clean out that garage!

Windshield or rear window leaks are sneaky. You'll never see pooled water but if you lift the foam floor padding you'll find it sometimes saturated. You can at least isolate what side is at fault that way. Good hunting.

hmmm, I just discovered that the padding under the rear passenger (drivers for you guys!) side seat was full of water...left the carpet folded back for a week and put some of those silica bead bags in the car and now its bone dry.
I could not see a possible place for the leak anywhere nearby but could it be the rear window seal? I have also taken out the rear parcel shelf and that was pretty dry...

Thanks Gents.....
Brewmeister, take your point, but I've got to do some other body work and just haven't had time to arrange it..........
Hi Fred, there is no water in the car......checked it all.......I'm pretty sure that it's the sunroof seals........because technically the water enters the cockpit (hence condensation) although it runs out the rain channels...just wondered if anyone had similar troubles

Found water in the rear passenger footwell of my E30 BMW after similar symptoms. The leak was from a rust hole in the firewall I always parked the car on our sloping driveway so that's where the water ran to.
Good luck finding your leak. Hope it isn't as painful as mine was!

After redoing all window seals (some of which either were or had been leaking judging by the dust trails with the rear seats out), I finally fixed the last leak which was coming through a transmission mounting bolt and only driving water into the left rear well above 70mph :-(
