Oil Level Guage Inop on '95 993
Hi everyone.
The oil level gauge on my 993 appears to have died (yes I checked the dipstick level). It doesn't budge from the bottom when car is at operating temp and allowed to idle as per instructions.
Is this common? Is it an easy job for a DIY? Perhaps the sending unit? Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
Thanks!

What was the level on the dipstick? My guage will appear dead as well when the oil on the dipstick goes below a half but if I add a very small amount of oil (less than a 1/4 qt) it comes back to life so usually I dont worry about the guage not moving in to the green. The guage is very unreliable.

This just happened to me. It was the oil pressure sending unit. My understanding is that if your gage is working, the sending unit is the most likely culprit. I don't know how easy or difficult the diy to replace it is. My car was already at the shop and I had them take care of it.
