Lighter socket power question...
I notice that my 60K mile 95' 993 lighter socket is always 'hot'. I noticed this because the power adaptor on my GPS stays lit when the car is shut down (ignition off & key out). In my Range Rover I can leave the power adaptor plugged in the lighter socket because it is 'cold' when the iginition if off. (I know - get rid of the malfunctioning Range Rover:^)
Is it normal to have a 'hot' lighter outlet when the car is off??? My owners manual is at home:crying: |
Mine stays hot with the ignition off.

Mine stays on (i.e. 'delivering juice') when anything is 'pushed in' -- whether the ignition is turned on or not.
FWIW, the wife's daily-driver (Fraud Contour) does the same thing. G. |
yup - always hot is normal. You can either rewire to a switched circuit or you can make it switchable - have a switch that will let you switch between switched (good for a radar detector, GPS, etc) and unswitched (nice to change your cell fone) circuits.

My lighter socket is always on, I use it to connect my battery tender.
