Step 1: Make sure wife is not home
Step 2: Heat up the oven

Chris, neat vid! You make it look so easy. Is post-op alignment required, or can you get away with setting the new and old tie-rod ends to the same length?

The EVO tie rods have a monoball on the inner end instead of the rubber coupler found on the RS and regular 993's. These function just like the 930 tie-rods used to upgrade every '69-'89 911,..... No additional NVH.
Although Porsche does not offer the inner EVO pieces separately and one has to buy the whole thing to get those inners, its an elegant and VERY durable solution.
I've done quite a few of these and the difference in steering precision and response is amazing.

1. Steve are you saying that to get the groovy EVO tie rods with no wobbly rubber thingies you have to buy the complete kit with tie rods and uprights?
2. and then it bolts right on the stock rack?
3. if so what's that entire kit cost?
4. is it possible to bolt on the EVO tie rods without using the uprights?
5. is it possible to buy the EVO tie rods only?

The Evo uprights mount the outer tie rod differently as it mounts from the bottom up. The std tie rod mounts from the top down.
Alignment would then be required as you have disrupted the camber and toe.

Are there any additional avenues to be explored for steering improvements?
I find the idea of the low-cost tie-rod welding very appealing because the factory rubber design must hamper the steering feel and feedback by a large degree.

My apologies for the delay in answering your questions as I've been a bit busy.
1) EVO tie-rods were designed and made specifically for the EVO uprights and should never be used with the regular OEM ones.
2) Yessir, they bolt right up to the 993 steering rack,..
3) Contact me directly for pricing. I don't conduct any business on the Forums,....
4) As above; the EVO uprights & tie-rods must be used together.
5) Yes. The EVO tie-rods are sold separately but the inners (the part you want) are not available just by themselves.
Hope this helps,
