It is not insecurity, there is always an "us" and a "them", that is what people do. Corvette owners are more likely to give the finger wave to others driving corvettes, it is just how you define it. I have never had a Boxster, I am not sure what cataclysmic event can occur when the little spoiler on the B-car is up on one side and not the other, but I think the guy made it home. He may have had the same sensation that I feel when the flap of my rear paock gets tucked into the pocket by accident???

I would not belittle the Boxster - like I siad, they are great for co-ed's with little puppies......

this type of thread reinforces the stereotype of some Porsche drivers being ******.

Yeah, that makes you pretty much a jerk in my book...

For confirmation, why not try posting your first post as a poll on the Boxster board??? That is unless you're afraid of a bunch of co-ed's and ladies.

Same thing for the spoiler, be it a Boxster or a Miata. The only exception I could make was for a POS Civic whose primered bodykit was falling off.

I think your post is very very sad. Here is my 1 cent's worth since you have asked. I think that quite a few people follow their genetic combative/survival coding and look for ways to differentiate themselves to put others down. We are given a brain and an innate sense of what is right and wrong which enables us to overcome our genetics if we try. The type of car we drive or anything else we own, or how much money we have, does not define us - it is our intentions that do.

My post is not meant to put you down. I hope it will give you something to think about. Following the way you decided to behave, others with a different perspective will scratch your Porsche.

If there was something wrong with someones car, especially if it may cause a problem, I would try to let them know... even if it was an 80's vintage Yugo. I certainly hope others would do the same for me. There is nothing wrong with being proud of the car you drive, but there is definitely something wrong with being a smug jerk.

Not knowing you, I don't know if you're a jerk or not, but in this case, your behavior reeked of "jerkitude."

Sounds like what YOU do. Most people I know practice the "it is not right or wrong, just different" philosophy when it comes to such trivial things. And, they don't become jealous of others just because they own a newer car !

^^^ Agreed with above. Now on post #16 there's the back-pedaling and trying to justify comments. Grow up.

Next you will be on about them being water cooled and thus not a "real" porsche.

Default Amen!

"The type of car we drive or anything else we own, or how much money we have, does not define us - it is our intentions that do."

Right on Targa Tango! This sums up perfectly (and a heck of a lot more succinctly that I would have been able to) what it is that is truly important. Thanks for the reminder.

So I guess a Cayman isn't a real Porsche either. Or maybe a Carrera GT should not be considered a real Porsche? Considering it is mid engined and water cooled??? A Porsche is a Porsche, well maybe not a 924 - J/K.

And by the way, as far as water cooling vs. air cooling. Any sensible engineer will tell you that water cooling is superior. Having said that, I prefer the water cooled cars only becasue that's what I grew up lusting after. Happy Holidays to ALL that own a P-car.
