Radio Plug Question: Where to get extra pin
I am in the middle of adding rear fog lights and this is a great chance for me to add the illumination to my CDR 220. I found the location for pin 6 in plug A which is for the illumination signal but there is no metal pin installed.
Where do I get an extra pin?
Thanks,
Erik

The dealer sells them although you'll probably have to give them the part number as my guy couldn't find it. If no one here chimes in with it first I'll look it up for you when I get home tonight. It's the pin only so you'll need to solder a wire on but that's no big deal. IIRC they're about $.20 each.

part number would be great. Soldering is not a problem. I am just doing the rear fog light install and there is a lot of soldering for this.
Thanks,
Erik

I checked my bill and I used a different pin number...... 999-652-871-22. It worked fine and was just a bit cheaper at $2.81 each. I guess I was dreaming thinking the cost was $.20, I should have known better. I found the pins were a bit tricky to get in the plug body. One plug body had a yellow insert about the size of a short toothpick that locked the pins in place and it needed to be pulled out before the new pin would fully insert into the plug body. Perhaps the pin KTM listed will fit more easily but in any event the ones I used worked fine too.
I did the same illumination mod when I installed my Traffic Pro and I like it a lot. The one negative is that the reversed display can be hard to read when you turn your lights on at dusk, otherwise it's much nicer at night not to have the bright orange/yellow display. I'm also in the middle of the rear fog mod too. The P-car write up is excellent. FWIW I found I could modify a cheap McParts bulb socket to fit - I think it was designed for a Taurus. I just cut about 1/2 inch off the back of the socket and trimed one of the tabs and it fit, no mods to the tail light lens necessary.

2 many cars,
I just replaced the US harness with the European harness which has 4 sockets instead of two. Now, I have 2 bulb sockets from the US harness that should fit the factory openings for the rear fog lights. If you want them please send me a pm.
Yes, I agree. The write-up for the rear fog light install is excellent. I am pretty much done except the cable from the switch to the rear end of the car and the wait for a working switch. Unfortunately, the write-up is for a coupe and I have a convertible. I hope I can find the grommet behind the seat.

For the ones that do not have a dealership close enough for the pins:

Some high shipping costs but the parts a cheap.

Erik,
Thanks for the offer but I have that part done. I actually chose to just install a driver's side light even though I know that two lights is stock. You shouldn't have a problem finding the grommet in the rear as it's pretty major and I'm sure the same on Cabs as it is on Coupes/Targas as the options to where it can come out in the engine compartment are somewhat limited. The location inside the car was just to the left of the pivot for the rear seat (when you are facing the rear seats). I actually ran the wire from back to front as I wanted to hide it in the engine compartment as much as possible and that way I could better control where the wire came through the grommet and tuck it in behind the main wire bundle. The run from the grommet forward is a piece of cake. Like you I'm waiting for switch parts then I'll be done. Thanks again for the offer on the wiring harness.

I need to admit that I cheated with the switch. I bought a used one which did not switch. I did all the wiring and cut out the hole in the dashboard and just put a jumper cable in to test the rest of the installation. I hope the replacement switch does it.
The biggest challenge will be to squeeze in the CDR 220 again ...

Erik

Putting the radio back in isn't too bad. I found if you put a hand under the dash to keep the wires more or less taught and centered behind the radio as you slide it in with your other hand it works pretty well. If you don't the wires can bunch up and get caught either on the glovebox door hook or in the metal radio supports so it won't slide in all the way. Don't pull too hard on the wires or they can disconnect (especially the antenna).
