Unhappy OT: Ever wonder where the Valet takes your car?

Maybe they go pick up some pizza...?

Watch the video (on the right), pretty funny, yet disturbing:

I don't valet, so I don't know the "rules" but from what I've seen written on the slips they hand customers, valets accept NO responsibility for their actions with your car. Stated differently, you have just allowed them to do whatever they want with your car, and you have no recourse.

The "I never valet" comments invariably seem to come from people living in cities with ample parking.

My (most likley useless) strategy is to check the odo or trip odo, and figure a reasonably acceptable mileage. I've had a mile and a half put on the car at most, which I spoke about sharply with the valet manager and restaurant owner. They were apologetic and offered a few concessions.

It's a necessary evil in this town.

I never valet (my cars) and I live in a city where parking is no joke. I'd rather drive in circles than have someone else drive my car. Now if I'm in a rental, I valet all day.

I went to Mortons a couple years back, my friend valet'd his custom 540. When we came out, not only was his rim curbed, the damn thing was still on the curb- like airborn! The valet said he didn't do it and walked away. It was one of those moments when you get to test your composure.

One good thing about owning the 996... they are so plain and non-exotic I park and valet anywhere. Valets aren't really interested in driving them either, too many on the road.

When I go to Lawry's resturant in Berverly Hills they still always park it up front with all them fancy expensive cars...
