How often do you clay your car?

I clay 2x a year, or more if I get sap or other nasty's in the paint. If you run your hand over the car, & it doesn't feel smooth, you need to clay it.
IMHO, Dawn, Joy & others have no business on a car! Not only do most of them not strip your wax, they don't lubricate & suspend dirt so you end up scratching the car, & it also strips vital oils, & dulls the paint. Just use a regular car wash, & then clay.

stripping vital oils? Im unaware of any oils in cured clearcoat. Sure when you put glazes and polishes and whatnot, it puts oil onto the surface, but that is removed with a standard wash as well.
As for dulling the paint? come on, lets not get ridiculous.

I clayed mine a few months ago for the first time, then did the Porter Cable thing. Awesome results. Black car...
There was an article in Total911 a few months back outlining the claying process and how it should really go fairly quickly, about "30 seconds per panel." I adhered to that and it worked.

Because when they are polished, they look like they've been dipped in oil! Black cars a simply stunning when detailed. Powerful. Sinister. Elegant. PIA, but can't be beat for "presence."
