I am in a voluntary evac area, a stone's throw from the mandatory evac zone (typing from the in-laws house). So far, my family is ok, and home so far is "safe" ...let's pray for the best. My bro-in-law is a sheriff, and father-in-law is fire ...they're out there. Have them and the others fighting these monsters in our thoughts and prayers. Thank you all for your support ...it really is touching and truly meaningful in this tenuous time. Thanks, guys.

thanks for the kind words.
You guys living elsewhere wouldn't believe it. The wind has been incredible. Winds have been recorded around 78 mph near the coastline in Ventura...hurricane force type. The smoke and ash is incredible and they have issued health warnings in addition....not like many areas in SoCal need it in addition to the smog It has been awful.

I spoke with my Boxster owning brother in Mission Viejo - he's about 15 miles away from fire and is in no threat right now...
Best of luck to those leaving their homes not knowing what they will return to.
Being in that line of work, I know how hard those firemen are busting their asses right now trying to control these things. Hopefully, they'll all return home safe and soon!

This really has gotten out-of-control, and our prayers are with all of you in SoCal. It makes it hard to enjoy the beautiful sun that we've been getting in NorCal...
Keep yourselves, your family and pets safe. Good luck. Pray for rain...

Please be safe at all costs. I wish you all the best. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
While I'm typing this, the weather shows damage in Malibu. Malibu HS is now an evac center.
Please be careful.

Please add me to the list of those who cares. Folks in the south land may the Lord above watch over you. Last winter was so dry, this is a grave fire season no doubt.
Hope everyone is safe.

Good thing I have a garage for my 911 here at UCSB, the fires over the mountain and winds knocking crap from previous fires have put dust and smoke all over our neighborhood and university. All of my roommates' cars are covered in crap. Biking to school is also a cough-up-a-lung experience. Hope everyone with homes near the fires are ok. Back in 2000 my girlfriends home almost burned down in a fire near LA. Thats what happens when you control many small fires, just leads to a much larger problem
