Anyone know if the 993 cigarette lighter is hot? Mine is in the shop for a clutch and I am purchasing a battery tender. The tender company says the battery can only be maintained through the cigarette lighter if the lighter is "hot" without the key on. Any recommendations on a battery maintainer? Have seen lots of posting on this. Not sure if the cigarette lighter type is better than one that is hardwired to the battery. Thanks all!

Yes, in fact Porsche sells a charger that uses the lighter. Personally I use a battery tender w/ a pigtail hardwired directly to the battery.
