Side mirror vandalised - help please!

Hi everyone,

Got up this morning to find drivers side mirror laying on the pavement next to my car. The whole unit (mirror and base) has been wrenched off.
Does anyone have a DIY on fitting the wing mirror unit to the car? I can't figure out what holds it to the car.

I suppose I could understand it more if the mirror had been stolen, but just to break someone elses property for no reason really stumps me:crying:

Many thanks

Mike

Should have mentioned - my car is a 94 (993) Carerra Tiptronic

I'm left with the mirror and base as previously described and just holes on the drivers door where the power lead comes through.

Pretty sure they're held on the same as 911 and 964s.

Base should have two prongs attached to it that go down into the two bottom holes on the door.

If the hex screw is loose then the "clampy bit" (see first pic) drops into the top hole in the door. Top hole closest to the front is for the mirror wiring.

Doing up the hex screw clamps the base to the door.

Any help?

Thanks Frank, it does look similar, I've got the two prongs, but I think the clamp on the hex screw has been broken off - will have to see if it can be repaired/replaced.
I appreciate your help.

Mike

Hi Mike,

Check to see if it's broken or not.

If you just need the clamp thing and or the screw, I can send you one for free, I like to help a "Brother" when I can.

I've got a few lying around.

Thanks for the kind offer Frank, I've been onto Porsche and thankfully the hex screw and clamp are available separate from the rest of the mirror - should turn up tomorrow. Only a couple of pounds so probably more economic than postage from Oz to UK!

Thanks again
Mike

On the UK site pistonheads there would appear to have been a spate of 993 mirror thefts in London. :grr:
