Default Would dropping the engine slightly help with plug changes?

I read about and experience the #6 plug change issue. Would I gain anything by loosening the two rear engine mounts and lowering the motor a little using a 2K ton jack??? Local independent Porsche repair boasts the #6 plug change during a plug job - do they have a secret method of doing it - other than 'time' and the ability to 'stand' under the car? Comments?

Marlon it is not that big a deal. Even #6 is a piece of cake if you have the right tools. Get a new spark plug socket, a universal joint, a 3" extension and a stubby socket wrench. Use electrical tape to join them together to prevent any tools from dropping into the engine. There must be 50 threads on this method.

Marlon,
I replaced all 12 plugs earlier this year - with the car on four stands. As long as you remove the engine tin (from below) access is not as bad as some make it seem. I also replaced all four valve cover gaskets at the same time, so the job took a few days (fastidious cleaner.....).

Let me know if I can help.

Dudley/Andreas - thx for the info and moral support. I got all but three replaced very easily a couple weeknds ago (two behind a muffler and the infamous #6 still undun). I plan to do the lower valve cover gaskets when I tackle the other 3 plugs (yes, I got new bolts for the covers too). I really wanted to do the plug wires at the same time, but I pushed it off for a bit pending the recent thread on OEM vesus 'hand assembled' plug wires. jeesh. Sunset has the entire wire set for around 475.

The key is to removed the engine shroud, once that's removed the plug can be easily changed from under the car.

+1. I also found I was able to work on 6E more or less sitting in the wheel well.
