Ride height

Can I use the white Eibach Tech Art springs to lower my 993 about an inch to an inch and a half? I have a steep driveway transition and the aero kit front splitters , so can't go too low.

I don't knw if you can use those springs or not, but 1.5" is a LOT of lowering for a street car.

Fred's 964 09-13-2007 05:38 PM

TMc, almost all the manufacturers state 1", 1.3", 1.5", or 2". Eibach has several springs from 1" to 2". I don't know if the Tech Art ones are the lowest or if that means anything. I guess I'll try them to see. I'd like to stay closer to 1" but 1.3" to 1.5" would be OK, I think. There is some adjustment on the shocks. There is currently almost 3" from my front tire to the wheel opening. SUV for sure.

most will tell you that if you change the springs and not the shocks, it will mess up the handling and ride of your car. The shorter springs can cause the shocks to bottom out. The right way to do it is with the PSS9 set-up (which is height adjustable) or Euro sport springs & shocks (not height adj).

Fred,

I didn't mean to imply anything by my comment other than that street conditions are so varied that one has to take care when considering how much to drop the car....I love the slammed look, but the reality of the roads and streets where I drive driving is that I simply could not drop my car much more than one inch...After that I start scraping on certain driveways, speed bumps, etc. that I frequent on a daily basis.

Again, no criticism impled...Just a comment.

TMc, no criticism taken, I agree about slamming it, I just wanted to lower it a bit. That's why I'm asking about the height. I've learned there is a lot to consider when lowering, springs, shocks, spring rates. Now I know why PSS9's are so popular, fully height and ride adjustable. Thanks for the reply. BTW, I love the Dahlonega area, spent several vacations up there.
