Will 996 GT3 Sport Seats fit in a 993 ?
If they will, THESE seem like a great deal for somebody.
(No Affiliation, yada, yada, yada) EDIT: Corrected to 996. Oops! |
Good find. These are 996 sport seats and they will fit a 993. However, if they were 997 seats they would not fit - too big (according to RUF Dallas).
|
Oops, good catch. I really can read, but my mind has been straying to thoughts of the 997 GT3 lately. If I had a black interior, I would buy these. If I ever see a pair come up in "Cashmere" at a good price, I will.

PJ - you sure about the 996 seats fitting in a 993?
About a month ago, I had looked into some 997 GT3 seats, and the local dealership said they changed the mounting points for the 996 and 997, making it difficult/impossible to put them in a 993... Would it require custom brackets? |
If you do a search, you will find several threads dealing with this mod.
Good luck Ron |
I know of a couple of 993 owners that have these seats. I am not sure what is involved, though. Like I said, I hear that the 997 seats are larger.

Thankfully someone bought these seats, because I was getting awfully tempted even though they didn't match my interior. I was actually planning to call tomorrow to see what it costs to have them recovered. I think I have a problem with mods. Does anyone know of a good 12-step program?

993: I, too. + and -

Yes ... they will fit ... I have black ones with red stitching in the black cab. :to_order:

I have a set of black 996 gt3 seats sitting around. If I throw them in my 993 will I be able to slide them fwd enough to let some small kids squeeze into the back? Center console preservation dontcha know.:p
|
Slide your present seat forward as far as possible with the setback upright. If they can squeeze through, maybe. But only for about 6-12 months, depending on how fast they grow. If they would be small enough to squeeze behind fixed back seats, aren't they still in car seats or at least boosters? They should be.

The bigger problem is this made worse by the wide fixed back and deep bucket. Even though I am only 5'8" tall, to make it practical to get in and out of the bucket i need to back the seat almost all back. Once in, i can scoot forward and there would be leg room behind. But getting in/out might require them to put their legs up and out of way. Finally with the fixed back and cramped space IF you ever were in an accident and had to get anyone out quit it would be a nightmare. Even with standard seats not easy but without a leaning forward back rest not good. B |

My kids are in the back of the 993tt all the time. They love it. Its a bit tight with the 996 buckets for them to get in the back but it works.
