Gearing (Re-gearing) For Dummies?
I read in another thread about re-gearing as a means to better acceleration, and an improvement as measured on the butt dyno. I tried to do a little research to learn about it on my own, but I have a couple of pretty basic questions.
1. Is it possible to re-gear an automatic? I have a tiptronic. Everything I found on re-gearing had to do with the six speed manuals.
2. Even if it is possible, given only four gears to work with, could you still achieve any noticeable improvement?
As additional information, I'm really just looking for low end improvement. I never go to the track and on the rare occasions that I get the revs up in what I guess is the "power band" it certainly meets my limited needs, but it just doesn't feel as quick from a standing start as I wish it did.
Thanks for any help.

Hi Chet:
I'm sorry to tell you that there are no alternative gears (factory or aftermarket) for a Tiptronic.
The best you can do is a good aftermarket chip to improve throttle response and mid-range torque.
