Default Spoiler grille replacement question (pics)

I removed my stock spoiler today in order to replace the black plastic grille insert. I understand that the grille is held in the painted plastic frame with adhesive. Has anyone removed this before, and if so, what is the best method to separate the two pieces?

Rather than purchasing the 75-part Porsche adhesive, is there an acceptable black urethane that would work just as well?

The car looks interesting without the spoiler in place

Andreas

This site has some interesting 3M products - the Window-Weld and Ribbon Sealer seem like possibilities:

g'day,
Any black urethane that is used to bond windscreens in will do.

Andreas,

Why not just use good, old silicone? Strong enough to hold it in but not so tenacious that you can't break the bond should you so desire.

You know, kinda like cubic zirconium...

Frank,
I presume a black urethane would be the ticket, as the spoiler frame appears quite flimsy by itself. The adhesive is probably meant to act structural.

Thanks, Randy. Can you PM Andreas and explain the joke to him? He said he did not get it. I think he must have been very tired last night...

Progress. I was able to separate the old black grille insert from the painted spoiler frame. It took a deft hand wielding a razor knife, various screwdrivers, and a generous helping of foul language. The grille is affixed to the frame using a very tenacious adhesive. This adhesive would work fine should one wish to reassemble the Titanic some day.

A local auto parts store had the correct 3M urethane adhesive in stock, so I should be able to reassemble tomorrow:

All done. The new grille looks great. The 3M urethane was the ticket - it flowed nice and the bead kept its shape so that both surafces could bond well. I let the adhesive cure for a few hours before bolting it back together and taking it for a whirl. It feels like I gained 15 HP.

Here is the old grille:

And here is the new one:
