Fit of pole positions... I'm 6'1" 210#, 48" chest, with 36" waist and I fit just fine. Fit is a little snug along my sides but it works.

I guess I'm the only one who would fall in love with the factory seats. I feel like I'm molesting the car by putting anything non-factory in it.

Question fo ryou guys with seats like GT3 or PP: do you have enough room to get into the back
of the car to wipe down the surfaces, windows and vacuum? Can you pass objects back into there?
And Mr fast: what the heck are "moon cut cylinders"? I like your car; mine is heading in that
RS replica direction.

Joe: there was a set on eBay a couple of months ago. I contacted the seller. I'll see if I can find his contact info for you and PM you.

It's tight passing anything into the back. My kids can squeeze through if I slide the seats all the way forward. Once back there there is much more room with the pole positions. In terms of getting back there to clean, it would probably be easier to remove the passenger seat to do so.

Moon cut cylinders are "scallop cuts" at the base of the cylinders that help improve breathing. Bruce Andersons book recommends it as does Joel Reiser (the PCA tech guy for 993's).

I'm happy with the direction I have taken my car in. The only "difficulty" in driving is getting in/out of the pole positions. Other than that they are supremely comfortable.

Joe: PM sent!

Personally, after much homework, I'm going with GT3s. If you need something that reclines, I looked at Cobra Missanos. That would be my choice for something that reclines. Much better than OEs IMO.

Fred,

Thanks for the reply.

Hmmm cutouts in the cylinders, interesting. Seems similar to another thing
that can be done to the cases, I forget the name, something with "boat" in
it or close to that. Boat-tailing ??? That also helps with breathing inside the
case.

That's good info on the seats. As you can see from my sig its probably the next
thing I will do to the car and I'm leaning towards PPs. I like the GT3 seats a
lot but I think they look "wrong" in a 993. Just my taste. Either that or get the
RS splitter on the front, the fixed RS tail, and the side skirts. I like the RS look
a lot on a 993.

Oh ya, how long does it take to remove the passenger seat? I guess one cleans
maybe once a year or something.

Wayne,

The Recaro SRD's, Speed 4, and Speed 5 all recline with a release on both sides. At least two Rennlisters have noted, with the Cobra Misanos, some sway under hard cornering. They look great, but that puts them off my list.

Can anyone provide a website that lists accurate weights for something as the Pole Positions? Thanks.

A8's, all the way.

I have the GT3 seats and, with a roll bar, you'll have a hard time getting to the rear window, especially if you've been supersizing your meals for a while. Sans roll bar, I can squeeze back there without a problem (I'm 5'11" and weigh 180 lbs).

What is the difference between those RS seats and Pole Positions? They look the same to me.

I'd be inclined against the factory sport seats myself. They look nice, but they weigh 50 lbs each, and they don't have much lateral support. I'd lean toward A8, Pole Positions, or Cobra Misano.

You won't be comfortable in A8's with 44 coat size. With kids I would stick with a 2piece seat. Recaro Sportster CS (available in leather) would be my first choice. Another option if you don't mind cloth is Recaro Speed or SRD.

Griffin Motorwerke in Berkeley has all the Recaro in the showroom. 510/524-7447. Terry is the owner.

No affiliation but mention that Brad sent you...I've been a customer for over 20 years.

Thanks for all the info/advice guys. I'm in no hurry. Will have to sit in some factory sport seats and A8's to make my decision. Will keep you guys posted.

Haven't seen anyone put the new Recaro Sportster CS's in yet. Anyone done done this and have pics?

I shelled out the dough for the factory sport seats....and I love 'em! I wanted a more supportive seat, something rare and unusual...and I got that with the factory seats....but in the end, it's always just a matter of opinion.

Good luck on your decision!

Damien
