Question Fan belt sensor roller wheel

A few weeks ago, I had the 60K miles service done on my '95 993 and my indie noticed that the fan belt sensor roller wheel had "lost" its platic surround: instead of the normal 2" diameter plastic wheel, the wheel is 0.8" and metal (meaning that the plastic has gone leaving only the metal center). My indie proceded to the replacement with a new belt sensor and showed me the new part versus old part when I picked up the car. Today, only 4 weeks after the service, I noticed that the new fan belt sensor roller wheel has also lost the plastic surround and is running metal against the belt...
Has this happen to anyone?
What could be the cause of this? Faulty part? Or am I driving too hard

I think I've got 40K+ miles on my repaced sensor. Sounds like a fluke to me. IIRC, there is no way to mis-install this part. With it being only 4 weeks old, have him contact Porsche to see if it can be replaced on their dime.
