Default The Good News & the Bad . . .

The good news is that I sold my motocycle for full price, with no dickering at all.

The bad news is that the buyer felt obligated because as he was checking it out in the driveway, the engine was running and when he bent down to look at the engine, he bumped the shift lever into gear and it proceeded to take off, went in to my garage as guess what it hit ? I can't believe that I kept my cool as I watched this happen, in what seemed like slow motion as it smacked the left rear quarter and then scraped down the entire side before coming to a rest after hitting the wall. He says that he will have his insurance take care of everything, so I will be off to the body shop tomorrow for estimates. Wish me luck.

P.S. Is noon too early to start drinking?

That is some really nasty luck... I am so sorry.

Kudos on the cool head. I am not sure I would have been so mature.

Wow, nice that you didn't lose it but I guess going nuts wouldn't change anything except put the guy on the defensive. Kudos for class.

In this case? Absolutely not! That is horrific.

Good luck with a thorough & quality repair.

Start? Did you stop!?!?

Sorry to hear about the mishap. Geez. that really REALLY sucks.. In general there is not much benefit to freaking-out. Glad it's going to get taken care of on someone else's dime.

Back in 1989 I bought one of the first of the Red Mustang GT's that they made. A couple days later a buddy wanted to use it at the big electronics show. That was awesome. Until I noticed a huge dent in the drivers door when someone swung it open into a table. It was all of 6 days old at the time. It got fixed (on my dime, dude refused to take responsibility.. hasta la vistsa 'buddy') then as the time went it became not so much a big deal any more. Maybe some good will come of all this, aside from selling the bike at a good price.

I feel your pain brother. My car is going to the body shop tomorrow. Go ahead and have a drink, I started drinking 4 days ago when the accident happened and the car doesn't look that bad now somehow.

Jeff,
That sucks. If it wasn't so sad (I can just imagine you in total disbelief as it happened), it would almost be funny... right? Right? Oh sh*t, whatever, just start drinking.

It's noon some where in the world, yeah start drinking! Do your homework and find a meticulous shop. If properly repaired you won't give it a second thought, if not well.....ask me how I know (previous Porsche). Good luck with the repairs.

OUCH!

man what (bad) luck. Sorry to see it. As others have said...have a drink. I've been drinking for 2 months (as of yesterday) waiting for my baby to come back from the body shop.

This sounds very much like something that would happen to me....not someone else

Keep your head up, it'll be fixed soon!

OUCH!! Damn...I am going to go drink one for you. Reminds me of what can happen in a garage with 3 kids and bikes, kiddiew jeeps, reckless neighbor's kids, etc...

Congrats for not killing the guy, it would have only made matters worse anyway.
