Default Moving to RENO!

Not sure how I will ever be able to truly leave Southern California in my heart... But, I am on my way to Reno for a new job and the 993 is coming with me this weekend!

I know there are a number of you guys in the area and I look forward to meeting you all, trying the fun driving places and of course learn who to take my baby to for work (many opportunities on the slippery slope).

I will miss the back country roads of San Diego, but Reno here I come.

PS – anything I need to do for the elevation (I know, I will do a search)

Watch out for the cops - I've seen them on tv and they are a questionable bunch...

Reno is a great place. A bit dry but at least you get 4 seasons.

I do have a house up there that is 2 years new and empty- available for rent. PM me if interested.

Don't worry, the back country roads near Reno are some of the best. Try 89 in CA (just north of Tahoe). Fantastic scenery, curves, and it's usually empty.

As a bonus a house with a huge garage will cost you the same as an SD townhome. Doesn't make much sense to live in SoCal these days.

Welcome to Reno! Too bad you didn't get here this morning, a few of us met at the Local dealership for the PCA club "show-n-shine", then we took a drive up to the lake and back. PM if you want to know anything about the area. Once you get settled, I'll be happy to meet up and show you around the local back-roads.

What Jeff said,

I have been here sine late 03 from CA and love it. 4 Seasons and truly some of the best mountain pass roads anywhere.

Nice to meet the guys this morning at the show and shine event. I was stuck for the duration so did not get to ride up to the lake with you guys. Next time

I took off after and drove up 395 to 70 and across to Portola amd then Graeagle area. Tooka look at some property there. Lovely area with lots of trees and green meadows. Then came back though Truckee and down 80 back. Nice afternoon jaunt.

Get in touch with us when you settle in and we will have to get a pint or two.

Remember, less new taxes. Add 10% to your earnings by moving to Nevada. The Californians pay our taxes at the Casinos

Thanks for the feedback guys and I will certainly look you all up when I get there.

I shoud have posted sooner as I did need to find a place Jeff, but I found a rental/home in Damonte Ranch to start. I want to be on the other side of the freeway off of Mt. Rose Hwy or in Galena Forest, but I would need to sell my SD place to afford what I want there. I want to keep my foot in the door in SD for now at least.

MAC993 PM me and we can share stories about the SD - Reno decision making process.

Here's to a new adventure!!

Chris - Nothing you need to do nor is there anything you can do about the fact that you will lose alot of power.

The 993 will self-adjust to the altitude, so that it will run as well as possible, however, expect about to lose about 4% of your power and torque per 1,000 ft. of elevation due to the thinner air.

A 993 with reduced power is still a blast on curvy roads. I never feel like I need more power, even at 10,000 ft, when driving hard in the twisties. If you feel the need for speed on the straights, then the only cure is Turbo

A 993TT will make virtually 100% of its power up to around 7,000 ft, but the lag will be worse...

I looked at Reno at one time. Not so much as to live in Reno but Tahoe and the mountains sold me. Its a really nice area and I enjoy it every time Im up there. I've spent a good share of time in Incline Village over the years and its my favorite NV vacation destination. There is nothing better than Lake Tahoe in the summer!! I shouldnt say nothing better but its an amazing place, all year long. I bought my C4 in Incline Village.

MAKE SURE YOU EAT AT T's in Incline!!! Although Im not a local, I do know where the good food is at.
