1996 Porsche 911(993) Carrera 2 Cabriolet
VIN# WP0CA2993TS340436 Polar Silver Metallic/Navy. 285hp 3.6ltr Engine w/ 6 speed manual trans. Excellent Condition thru-out with 79k miles. This car is spectacular with Factory 17" Cup wheels, Leather, 2+2 seating, Automatic speed control, ABS, CD Stereo and more..... The paint is mint plus the car has a clean carfax with no stories! We're asking $29,950.
Newbie here needs help. The above is the sellers ad. I called. They said it is one owner. There are some maintenance records, but not complete. What do you think about the price? At 79k miles, what schedule maintenance and problem areas can I expect?
Also, my preference is for a coupe. But, I'll take a cab as well if it is a bargain.

If you're first preference is for a coupe... you WILL likely be disappointed with a cab... never again for me!
Based on what I'm seeing recently this isn't a bargain price.

I have a Mazda Miata roadster, which I am keeping too. I figured I don't need another convertible and the coupes are cheaper too. How much is difference in stiffness between the two? How come you won't get a cab again?

i understand the desire for a cab, but if you already have a miata, which you are keeping, i am not sure i understand why you would get a 993 cab: two rag tops? how tight are NJ emissions laws? if they are strict like CA, i'd want to know how clogged the SAI ports are before i bought that car. as for price: polar silver is a pretty popular color, but the navy interior is not as desirable. this car doesn't appear to have (m)any options (and the seating is only partial leather not full leather). lack of records would bother me less if a PPI checked out; at that number of miles, you could have a lot of maintenance to worry about if the PO didn't take care of it: clutch, SAI ports, stearing rack, shocks, etc. as i would with any 993, i'd budget at least $5k for 1st year repairs. that is about 1/2 of what i spent my first year getting my car right...and the repairs just keep coming: last week i had to replace my control arms...$1500.
