Default ABS/ABD

After a puncture on Monday, fitting my new Recaros (with their compressor problems) yesterday, I was really hoping today would be uneventful... guess things do come in threes...

After driving the car for about 20 minutes, I suddenly heard a crash - imagine and undertray falling off a car, or metal breaking. The dash lights up like a christmas tree (the ABS light, as well as the green and red ABD lights), and rattles come from the rear. I pull over into my parents' driveway (strangely enough less than 30m away), where the car still is.

Question: what's gone wrong and, though I don't want to know, how bad is it?

Sounds like a broken belt took out something else on its way. Any evidence?

Sounds like your alternator belt fell off/broke or the alternator quit. All the warning lights come on when that happens.

Seconded on the belt/alternator. If the alt belt breaks it could get caught up under the AC belt snapping that one as well. Should be a quick diagnosis with a torch/flashlight.

+1 on alternator belt. Sounds like shrapnel back there when it lets go.

Definitely sounds like an alternator belt. An easy fix. It happened to me last year and I was surprised how easy it was. Plenty of writeups here.
