Truspeed Pricing
 

I've spotted a 993 at Truspeed that I am interested in. (As I posted before this would be a second Porsche to my '06 CS daily driver).

Would anyone be willing to share what sort of deals they have managed to negotiate from Truspeed relative to their originally quoted price. Other info on negotiated prices from the "993 specialist" such as RPM, Will Hoit or others might also be helpful as a guidepost.

PM would be appreciated if you prefer not to make the info public on the board.

A quick check of the "Search" feature on this website will provide with plenty of information on Truspeed. They seem to have a very solid reputation here. Ask Trojanman....he is selling his coupe that he bought from them.

Yup...I've done that and I agree about their reputation.

What I'd like to know is if they are saying a vehicle is for sale for "X", can one expect to be able to negotiate some $$ off the asking price, and if so, what what kind of range are we talking.

if the color works for you, then you should consider just buying TrojanMan's 993 coupe...nicely modified, kinks all settled in, plus he has posted a lot about this car over the past year so there is a decent history on it. you would get Truespeed quality at a non-dealer price.

+1 here... Jeff's car is beautiful and I've been following the great mods he added to the car in the last 2 years... the best way to get a Porsche is from a crazy Porsche head...ops...I mean...enthusiast... :roflmao:

Just my .02. Dealer pricing for these cars I would expect to be about 10% higher than a private sale. I have dealt with Michael Willhoit and found him to be a real gentleman, and have heard the same about RPM and Truespeed.
I think the premium these guys get is because they shop for the best cars and pay the private sale prices and need to get the premium, so I don't think there is much wiggle room. Reputation is VERY IMPORTANT to these guys given their target clients so, to my mind, if you're buying a keeper it's worth paying them the premium. I also think resale will be positively affected if the car came from one of these guys.

The price you are able to negotiate with any seller is based upon your skill as a negotiator, and the motivation of the seller. I'm not sure that someone's past experience with a particular seller will predict your ability to negotiate a similar price. That said, try to find out how long they've had that particular car in inventory... that often will determine how motivated they are to move it.

I don't believe that the gentlemen at Truspeed are in same type of "dealer" category as say...Ray Joseph @ RPM or Wilhoit, for that matter. I've heard that they are a bit more flexible. A good buddy of mine has bought a couple of different p-cars from Truspeed and said that they did deal with him.....more so than those other operations. Make certain that you take up Jeff on his offer and talk to him about this.

Just a couple of thoughts. I am assuming that you have paid attention to the market and market prices, so with that in mind..........My two cents is to look at the car in person, talk to the folks at Truspeed and get a feel for what they may or may not be willing to do.......if you like what you see, get a PPI and make an offer. You can even pass the link from their website on here and get some of the more educated 993 folks opinions on the car and potential questions to ask the owners. Keep us posted and good luck.

TrojanMan's car is sweeet, but my CS is black, so I'd really prefer a different color...Silver, White, Yellow or possibly blue are top choices.
