SAI CEL now ISV?
So I got my car back together after a successful SAI flush (more on that in a different post) and took the car out for a spin. My car idled perfectly before the flush, but after getting about a mile from the house I pushed in the clutch and the car stalled. It continued to idle rough, or stall, on the way home when the clutch pedal was pushed in. ISV or did I miss something when I put the check value, air cleaner, and heat exchangers on that would cause that? I did double check that little vacuum hose behind the check value.
Thanks in advance |
May have found the problem. I did disconnect the battery while doing the flush. I'll go drive a bit and let you'll know.

I've encountered that behavior when I've had the battery disconnected. I think the ECU needs to recalibrate. A 15+ minute drive solved it for me. If you're still idling rough & haven't cleaned the ISV, you might give that a try as well.

Well, while driving around on side roads for 20-30 minutes the car kept stalling. Thanks to this great place I had what every 993 owner should have in their glove box….a spare DME relay. I parked (actually stalled) under a street light, with nothing to lose I swapped out the relay and drove around for another 20 minutes without stalling once! She seems to be back to normal.
Thanks again RL! :burnout: |
Whenever you disconnect the battery the car will do that until the ECU recalibrates. The fact that you changed the relay and the problem went away may just be coincidence.

I agree could be coincidence, I'll put the old one back in after the snow stops and see if it continues to stall......why do I live in NE :banghead:
