Default Hi! I'm new / a long drive home.

Hi! I'm fred, been lurking , asking newbie questions for awhile, time to jump in.

So after a six to eight month search I offically own a 993 now, kinda nervous, really happy, can't wait to get on the road. Only thing is, the car is in Plano, TX and I'm in Boston, MA

No worries, I'll drive it home.

The Car:

Bill G's White '95 C2 from Plano/Racers Ranch.
Inspected at Ruf, with Hans, clean bill of health.

The plan:

Day 1 Tues 4/10
5am Wake up in boston, get on airplane for DFW
1pm Pickup car, Plano, TX
Drive to Little Rock AR or Memphis, TN
Sleep.

Day 2 Wed 4/11
See a little of whatever city I am in.
Drive to memphis if not already there.
See graceland for something to do.
Drive to Nashville, eat, take pictures.
Drive to Knoxville, eat, sleep.

Day 3 Thur 4/12
Drive to Oak Ridge, see Mahnattan Project Center, etc
Drive to Charlottesville, VA, see mother

Day 4 Fri 4/13
Rest

Day 5 Sat 4/14
Drive Blue Ridge Parkway from Waynesboro to Front Royal, VA
Drive to Hershey PA, eat chocolate,
Drive to somewhere outside NYC, jersey or something.

Day 6 Sun 4/15
Drive to Soho then Upper Park E., Take pics see friends.
Drive to Boston
sleep

Any suggestions?
Anyone along the way wanna get some food? show me around?
Thanks!

Suggestions ? Yes...get on motorway, floor it, and see how fast you can get home

Good luck with the car dude. When there's niggles she'll drive you to distraction, but when she's OK she'll put that stupid grin on our mug every time you turn the key !

It will be about 1800 miles, and should be a hell of a trip, I'm loading up my ipod now, got the plates and insurance sorted out today, looking good so far.

Resting all day on Friday the 13th?
Hmmm.... coincidence?

Have a great trip! I wish I could get some mileage on like that!

My only future long haul will be to Boston in July to see the Police at Fenway (and hopefully none along the way!)

Go to Logan Airport with no bags to check and a one way ticket. You'll get to make several trips through the metal detector, and get frisked like never before. Ask me how I know...

Congrats on the car. It will be a great trip home.

Oh, and don't forget your radar detector!

LOL. 24 of straight driving! 1000 miles a day is about all I'm good for.

Have fun, enjoy the trip, and if you have the time, TAKE your time when you see something interesting. Although between TX and MA... I suspect there will be a few hours of droning across flat plains of agriculture (snooze).

Nice work. I would bet you wont stop. I just picked my 993 from North Carolina with plans of see the sights on the way back. Ended up putting the hammer down to see how fast I could get home. Could not stay out of the car wanted to drive even more after I got Home.

You're stopping to see your Mommy? You're a good boy and she'll be proud of your new ride - my Dad was when I stopped by his place when I brought mine home.

But do work out the whole "parking around NYC" thing before you get there. There have been several posts on parking in big-city valet garages and the story they tell is not good. Indeed, I'd give some thought to the "on the way" parking arrangements everywhere you'll stop - to the extent possible.

Congratulations on your new car.

Regards to all.

Sat. 14th. is 'Novice and Track Day' at Pocono South - Pocono Raceway, Pennsylvania.

You *could* drop by for a breather etc. -- just make sure you have your PCA card with you - to 'get in'.

Gerry
(Yeah, I'll be there - I'm a Novice in the making ;-)
