Since I've recently bought shares in a popcorn factory...
I would like to put forward the following.
I am (temporarily) running without the engine undertray, and I have noticed that at motorway speeds the engine runs slightly warmer than with the tray.
Thoughts anyone ?

Drifting
I live in a very warm area and when I removed the engine tray, my car ran about 10 deg cooler everywhere, including California Speedway.
You might have something else going on. Is your rear rubber fan shroud intact? if it's cracked or holed it will not allow all the air to travel over the cylinders properly and cause a higher than normal engine temp, it's a really cheap part and you can DIY it in about 10 minutes. I had this problem and when I installed the new shroud the temps came back to normal.
Good Luck...........ZP44

I haven't noticed any temp problems yet, but I noticed the other day that mine is cracked. (see picture) I have temporarily patched it with silicone and duct tape until I can get the new part. Does anyone know the part number and what an approximate price is?

Air Duct
Jeff,
It’s an engine air duct PN 964-106-403-02. $55 at the dealer, probably less at Sunset. It is a different part number on later models. Check with dealer with your VIN in hand for the appropriate part.
I’m in Texas driving on hot freeway and engine temperature is running significantly lower without a tray on, plus you can inspect for leaks and seepages every time you clean your car.

When I took the tray off for maintenance, there was quite a bit of water collected in there.
I suppose it's to do with the RS rear spoiler, it acts as a rain water funnel and the tray as a drum. Quite environmentally fiendly cars, 993's !
