I'm 90% sure I'm going to get the PS2s (once I get my ridiculous wheel situation resolved ). Having run them on the Audi, the only downside was slightly soft sidewalls. But the Audi is very heavy and undertired--each 225/45-17 front carries almost 1200lbs, so no wonder it feels a bit squishy on turn-in. On the 993, each front carries <700 lbs.

Currently I have Bridge 050A PP on my rears and I'd wished I bought PS2... The real Q is do you want PERFORMANCE or Longevity? Choice is pretty clear as to which one!

Anyone care to update comments on the RE050 PPs vs. PS2s or anything else?

I'm about ready to put on some new shoes and the RE050s seem to offer the most bang for the buck.

Comments? TIA.

I'm a cheap bastard with too many tickets to my name to demand absolute performance. Which tire lasts the longest?

I just put them (RE050A Pole Positions) on my 540i 6 speed and have a set ready to put on the 993 next week. I have very limited info for anyone yet but I have to say they handle much better than the snow tires I just took off . I did a lot of reading and they seem to be an excellent choice. Cheaper than the michelins but still a good tire. Ask me in about a month (after I go to watkins glen). The tires I am replacing on the 993 were yoko avs 100's. They seemed ok to me but I did not have anything to compare with. People seemed to complain about their road noise but how the hell could I hear them over my engine?

Thanks, Jeff. Should I just stick with the standard size since I'm going to be lowering? Viper Bob just sent me my suspension package...UPS delivered today. Yahoo!

Ed, I am pretty positive that the Michelin PS2 tire lasts the longest. But au contraire, its also among the most expensive tires. Its also arguably the best tire for all round (wet and dry) street driving and occasional track driving. So if you evaluate the alternatives in the currency (miles per $) I don't think the Michelin PS2 is more expensive then other brands.. Maybe even cheaper??

Just my 0.02$

No, you don't have to stick with your current size--you can go a bit wider.

Did you decide to do the suspension yourself or are you having it done?

Bridgestone RE 750 - You'll get 25k miles out of a set, They are great for a daily driver, as they perform very well, but are also quiet and excellent in the rain.

I just got 2 RE050A Pole Positions for my rears, and after they get put on tomorrow, I'll post again in a few months as to my thoughts, but for $450 fedex delivered from tire rack, its not a bad deal.

This is what I put on last november.... to see if they would last longer than the Pirelli P-zero. I went through a set of rears every year.. My car is a daily driver and track car.. I've done three 2-day track events on the Pole Positions and the tires are still looking pretty good.. I think better than the Pirelli's would have been looking by now.. and the Pole Positions appear to have similar grip as well as feedback on the track.. I like the Pole Positions for a street/track combo tire..

Daily Driver with PS2's. 9000 Miles + 3 track days. Still plenty of tread left. I would guess the rears have 3-5K miles left & the fronts 10+

How are they for noise? My S-02As have some tread left but the tire noise is driving me nuts.

Just put them on my G35 Coupe and had the Pilots previously. Very happy so far with wet and dry traction. They are better than the Pilots IMHO and the price is nice.
