Default Kuhmo V710 fitment question

I just received a set of Kuhmo V710 tires to mount up to my turbo twists for autocrossing and have a question. As some of you who autocross may know, these tires are only availalbe in some odd 18" sizes, so I had to go with 245/35/18 for the front and 285/30/18 in the rear.

Firstly, I did a search so I am well aware that people have mounted 245/35/18 and 285/30/18 tires to their factory rims with no rubbing (in most cases). Here is my question- after I ordered my tires, I figured out that my hollow spokes are actually boxter hollow spokes and not 911 hollow spokes, meaning that they are 7.5 and 9.5" wides instead of 8" and 10" wide. Do you think the tires will still fit? It would seem to me like the fitment would already be a stretch on the 911 wheels w/o taking a 1/2" off each wheel. Any help would be appreciated.

In the end I'm not totally screwed as my CCWs are 8.5" in the front and 10" in the back, so I'm sure they'll fit on those wheels, but I would prefer to use my turbo twists as my auto-x wheels if possible.

Thanks in advance!

Looks pretty tight on the front wheel size.

I wouldn't expect any issues. The V710s run a bit narrow so you may only see slight tucking with the narrower wheels. The CCWs of course would be optimum.

Enjoy the grip. Woohoo!

Thanks guys. I figure I'll drop the twists and the V710s off at the tire place and see what they can do. I'll have them try the fronts first (I'm fairly confident the backs will fit) and if they don't fit, looks like I'll be running CCWs at the track and twists on the street!

I have the exact same V710 tire combo (245/35-18 and 285/30-18) but on the 8x18 and 10x18 twist wheels. I suspect that, per Kumho's information, you will find the rears are ok but the fronts may not be. Even on the 8-inch wheel they are very bulgy. My tire guys just about threw me out of the shop after the trouble they had mounting them. They got the last laugh, though. They used so much tire lubricant that at an autocross this weekend I had to wipe down the tires between every run because there was so much goop on the sidewalls.

One thing to note here, is that its important to mark the position of the tire relative to the rim -- pick the valve stem, them with a pain pen mark an arrow where the tire it. You'd be surprised how much recently mounted tires move about, mostly fronts from the use of brakes!

Thanks Paul. I'm glad I have the other wheels just in case, however, I wish I figured it out before paying to have Kuhmo MXs put on the CCWs last week!

By the way...they fit (sort of). I ended up getting them mounted on my CCW's and it doesn't appear I'll need to roll my fenders. The Kuhmo MX's formerly mounted on my CCW's are now on my black turbo twists. Thanks for your help- I'm glad I figured out a way to make something fit in time for the first auto-x!

Are you sure the rears are 9.5" and not 9" Boxster rims? No matter...whether they are 9" or 9.5" I think they are ET52, and if so if they were my wheels I would run the Boxster rears upfront with the 245s, sell the pair of 7.5" fronts, and look for a set of 10" 993 rears. 9" ET52 should fit vs the stock twist 8" ET52....and 245s on 9" and 295" on 10" would make a nice combo....will dial out some understeer and fill out your wheelwells
(btw 245s are too wide for a 7.5" rim IMHO)
