There are bargains out there, but it may be a case of "you get what you pay for". You will also end up waiting a very, very long time for that low-priced 993. I hope your color selections are not too narrow. AOW1624325 amd I checked out a 993 in NJ that was priced at $20,0000, IIRC. That car was a mess and was not worth the trouble to make right, IMO.
There's nothing wrong with wanting to pay the least amount of money for a product. If my car would have sold for $20,000 five years ago, I still would have bought it.

For further reference, I know of four 993s, all manual and with under 100k on the clock (right under) that have been purchased by RL members for mid to high $20s inside the past six months. At least three of these cars underwent thorough PPIs. I agree with Mark that it willl take time and effort to find the right one but they are out there.

BTW, some of these cars came with goodies like PSS9 or coilovers, 18" twists/MY02 and even one with RS LWF/clutch.

there is nothiong wrong with wanting a 993 for low purchase price, but as Mark said, you will get what you pay for......if you are paying under $20 make sure you get a very thorough PPI so that you know EXACTLY what you are getting into......I am saue that wil a car of this price you end up dping a mulitude of work and hence expense......If and I say If cos I dont know your finances and dont want to......but if you are trying to do a 993 on the cheap then you are in for trouble......please please dont take this the wrong way, but if you acn only afford $20K then you cannot afford one of these cars unless that is you already have another car and you are a good mechanic and solve your own problems......sorry to sound so negative, not intended, just trying to be objective and save somebody some heartache in the future

no, thats exactly what im looking for is this kind of info from people who have them. however i have a truck that i can drive if needed but i would probably drive the 993 everyday, (i did with the 944). I and mechanically inclined but not an expert (thats why i like this forum). but like i said i would rather a high purchase price with little other than maintenance expenses rather than a cheap one with a ton of problems.

I am selling my 993. It's a '96 six speed with 109k on the clock. about 1k on brand new MO30 suspension, 3k on new tires, about 8 mo's on a new battery, new ox sensors, new rebuilt front brakes, ss brake lines, new master cylinder, new slave cylinder, new clutch bracket (dunno the real name, we fixed the notorious 993 hanging clutch), front protection bar, OEM Xenon, very little wear, Fabspeed exhaust, front strut brace, tinted windows, records. Paint is good, drivers seat has a very small bad spot, interior is clean.
Call Brian Thomas at Rennsport 918-663-2906. He is my mechanic and the one handling the sale.

if you are NOT kidding, then that is some very serious wide-body envy you seem to have going there... love the C2S in your avatar by the way...
