3rd brake light
My 3rd brake light is not working....not sure yet if its the bulbs or the wires....I got some good DIY tips from p-car.....so I would like to try it.
Q. the cover over the brake light (body part same color as car), do I simply remove it by working it out? are there clips, screws or anything holding it in?
how do I put it back it after the job.

just pull it vertically starting from one side, slowly, and it is off.
putting it back, align it, make sure it goes in the grooves and tap it from one corner to the other.

ok guys....I successfully removed the whole thing and checked the bulbs. according to p-car, they are not burned as they are all bright (not black)......
the wire DIY looks pretty complex for me....can it be something simple like a fuse?

i did some searches and found that there is no fuse for the 3rd brake light. It probably is the wire connections....in the p-car DIY, they say to remove the rubber seal off the rear window fr the outside to expose the wire plate.....
is this seal glued on, or just stuck with friction?

ok....I've checked the bulbs..they look fine..
I removed the rubber lining to look for the connecto plate nd all i see is whats in the 1st pic. The wires go right thru....I dont see any connector plates, and the wires seemed to be in there pretty tight.
when i roll back the rubber lining from the inside of the car I see whats in the 2nd pic........
any ideas?

I just fixed mine. But my problem was on the inside lower rear glass. I had to take the back panel (the one with rear speakers) off. On the bottom of the rear glass there are three wires that are soldered onto the glass, two for rear defogger and one for the brake light. The middle one was disconnected. i couldn't solder it back on so i disconnected soldered strip of metal and directly connected it to the wire it came off of. Everything works fine now. Hope this helps.

I can certainly take a look there too....is this the same place that Bill is referring to "package tray trim"?
Also, is there instructions somewhere on how to remove the rear panel?

These, even within the sealed red optical case, can get water inside.
to really check the bulbs, remove the optical red brake light, without removing the
base fixed on the rear windshield, and shorten on a battery.
It seems in the pics that you removed the base from the rear windscreen,
While installing back, do not tighten the 13mm nuts hard because the base screws are just glued on the windscreen.
You will notice a pair of Z shaped springs under the nuts.
So tighten lightly. (more finger tightening than hand tightening)
