I have a small collection of 993 air cooleds. I'm hoping to find another top quality turbo 's'. i've seen a few out there, including those at Sloans. Kind of neat, but it seems most are assignments or consignments, etc.

anyway, figured i'd post something up here and if anyone knows of where i might find something of interest...or if you have one and want to talk...
let me know.

after all, i think we all agree those cars are NUTTY NICE!!

(fyi, if posting an ad like this isnt within forum decorum, etc. someone just let meknow and i'll move it/remove it, etc. just wasnt sure). i would call it a non-commerical effort to increase my passion for the aircooled....who doesnt love aircooleds!!!

Love your collection, but I have to ask - why do you need a third? Eggs... basket... etc etc...

Wouldn't it be better to branch-out? If you like 'em air-cooled, and they have to be P-cars, how about a nice 993RS or 2.7RS... or even a 959?

There's always RUF - how about a CTR and CTR2?

Doesn't Sloan have a 964 TurboS slant-nose? That might be interesting...

I also read you have BMWs... how about an M1? Or a 2002 Turbo? Or a 3.0 Csl?

If I was a collector, I'd look seriously at the Ruf BTR for sale in our classifieds... its RHD and located in New Zealand... Ruf-Dan-Ruf or some such Rennlister has it. This is a Ruf VIN car, and seriously collectable.

There are sooooooooo many cars I'd buy before getting a 3rd Turbo S (or a 2nd for that matter). I think the Ruf idea is a great one.

how do you maintain the RUF car, or better stated, do you find it problematic to maintain a RUF porsche? i had looked into a couple but each time i was dissuaded by the fact that noone in the immediate area is licensed for their stuff. i think it was just germany for a while, then canada had a dealer...then texas finally? am i wrong here. any tutorial on the world of Ruf would be much appreciated?

any links to the specific recommendations is much appreciated.

My car is maintained easily by any independent shop. Its true that the local Porsche dealer (Rusnak) wants no part of my car... but they really only want to service stock, late model cars anyway, and have more buisiness then they know what to do with. If I had a problem with my ECU, I would send it to Ruf in Dallas or Germany. Everything else is pretty much standard "tuner" stuff. Kevin can rebuild my turbos... even upgrade them to ZC if I desired. If a camshaft were to be damaged, I'd buy a Ruf replacement, but my local independent guy could install it. I can't think of any "gotchas" with the Ruf... and that NZ car is VERY attractively priced. I would buy it, but with the cost of alimony and all, its a bit out of my reach.

right hand drive though, right? that would keep me from buying it reguardless of $

sloan cars does have a 94 T S flat-nose...if i were collecing, i'd get one of those. porsche sure didn't make many of them...and is the last of the entirely built buy hand turbos.

If you can import the car (there may be other issues, such as bumpers and lights), then RHD should be no problem for a collector. I would not want to daily drive a RHD, but Steve is first and foremost a collector. The problem for this car is that inspection is difficult, shipping is expensive, and then there are those pesky federal regulations. I don't think RHD of itself is a stopper... at least for me. Again... its the alimony that slows me down.
