993 Ducktail (finished with hardware) for sale!
I'm selling my fiberglass ducktail. It is completely finished and was installed on my car. It has been re-primered so all the new owner will have to do is have it painted to match and installed! This will save you $$$ on body work.
It comes complete with the grill and the mounting hardware for the grill (6 t-bolts, nuts and washers).
The ducktail just installs in place of your current declid. The latch and light simply transfer over. Just disconnect the spoiler warning module under the passenger dash and you won't even get the warning light!!!
Asking $500 + shipping. Please e-mail me at mcuozzo@gmail.com if interested.
And for good measure here it is intalled on my car:

I've returned my car back to stock in preparation for selling it.
The ducktail comes with its own non motoroized grill. The only ill effect of installing this is a warning light on the dash and center panel. That is easily fixed by removing the module under the passengar dash.
The motorized wing just stays with the original decklid for re-installation, which was pretty easy.

Your car is a beauty and unique and should be sold as is IMO.
I'm looking for a very small deck lip wing/spoiler ( like GT3 RSR sort of) and may have to have one custom fabricated. The goal is to leave the existing mechanical wing still functional.
The goal may be unattainable.

I was/am/might be looking (you are right on all counts JoAnne) because they are sooo cute!! Does anybody happen to know the aerodynamic change when installed? Would I need to install a different front spoiler to compensate for the additional downforce on my new rear?

Sorry, I couldn't resist. Now back to answer your question SERIOUSLY...

Matt,
Your car was the inspiration for me to install the ducktail on my 993. Sorry to see you are selling it, but I'm sure you will find something fun to replace it with.
Adrienne,
I don't believe the front splitters are aerodynamically necessary, as the ducktail supposedly reduces the lift about the same as the stock moveable spoiler (neither the ducktail nor the stock spoiler create any downforce), so the front/rear balance should be unchanged. The ducktail does seem to help the engine run a bit cooler, as it creates a high pressure area over the grill and the fiberglass dissipates heat better than the steel lid. That's my theory, anyway. Whatever it does, I think it looks cool, and I've received a zillion favorable comments.
But...CUTE??
Here's a pic of mine, and the "baby duck" that is on the GT3RS racers.

That little quacker, or baby duck is essentially what I'm after but don't know where to start looking to source- anyone??
That said it might take such substantial modification it might be better to just custom fabricate. I thought about giving M.A. Shaw a call but haven't gotten around to it. Again, any ideas here?

I would think that a bodyman (or boat repairer) who is good with fiberglass could shorten the ducktail part of a Rennspeed 993 spoiler for you. As far as I know, Rennspeed is the only company that makes 993 ducktail lids. I am very happy with the quality of mine, and it fits very well.
Or, perhaps Mike Shaw could come up with something that would work for you. It's worth a call!
