That's it. $10 nobody contests that, so its revenue that is guaranteed.

There are some people that are simply ****. I parked a rental car at my father's condo overnight with the nose out and the next morning I had a note from the "association" stating that it is against the condominium rules to park that way.

Again, none of the spots were against a building. It was just someone's twisted utopia that everyone shall park with the front of the car in. Any deviants would be culled out.

I'd hate to meet that guy's wife!

Signs stating "Head End In Only" are mounted to every meter post. I don't
understand the point of it, there are no buildings bordering the lot and NJ
requires a front plate.

Then you'll end up with a second yellow envelope.

I think the next time you see a parking meter cop getting ready to give a ticket for an expired parking meter, put a quarter in and extend the time. Jack *** eposide from a few years ago.

That's funny.

If you ever come to a toll booth, pay for the guy behind you, too and watch as you leave.

I used to do that in New Jersey and some of the reactions are golden. One time the attendant tried to explain to the motorist that I had paid his fare, too, as he pointed to my departing car. The motorist refused to accept it and after a short argument threw his change at the attendant and sped off. That was the best entertainment I ever got out of a quarter!

Marv,

You might find the following article amusing:

I got a parking ticket today and figured I would just pay the fine because the meter was expired when I got to the car.

However, when I got home I looked at the ticket and found out I was fined because I backed into the parking space instead of pulling into it. The parking space is inside a public lot, not on the street.

This is just insane. What rational requires you to park your car nose in versus nose out?

It can't be for safety, because it is far safer to back into a parking space first and then pull out of the space nose first where your ability to see cross traffic is better (instead of looking backward over your shoulder), plus you don't have to blindly back out, then quick get into first and reverse direction.

Additionally, I can't see anything when I have an SUV parked on either side of me. It would be like backing out of a cave into cross traffic versus pulling out. Neither is a perfect solution, but I have better control if I am pulling out of the space.

Maybe the law wants the engine near the meter. If that is true, I would be legally obligated to back in with my 911!

If the sign was that hard to see and so far away, this just stinks but you of course are best paying that $10. It would cost more than $10 in gas and your time to drive down to the courthouse and fight it in court. Totally blows. They should have HUGE SIGNS that are easy to see from INSIDE RIGHT WHERE YOU PARK.

Your argument could be that you parked this way so at least your engine was on the same side compared to the other cars

I think they do this so they can check your registration expiration tags without getting out of their vehicle-just roll along behind the cars eating donuts. Cost $15 if they have to put the donut down and get out of vehicle.

Some of the cities down this way require you to pull in. I'm guessing it is because

a) it makes it easier to tow a "violator" and check expired tags

b) the nearly-deads down here can only barely manage to drive the car going forward, much less try to control it in reverse, as they attempt to squeeze it into a tight parking space

and - most likely, IMO,
c) They can't back up their cars so they damn sure don't want you to display your driving skills.

I too got a ticket for backing into a parking space in the Communist Republic of Santa Monica. I laughed and then snuck out of the garage without paying. I have since ripped it off ever since. I'm ahead of the game.
